ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೧೬೯

ರಾವಣ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಸೇನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಕೈಲಾಸದತ್ತ ಪಯಣಿಸಿದ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯಕ್ಷಲೋಕವಿತ್ತು.

ರಾವಣನ ಅಣ್ಣ ಧನಾಧಿಪತಿ ಕುಬೇರನೇ ಅದರ ಅಧಿಪತಿ.

ಯಕ್ಷರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ನೇರಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಸಾಗದಿರಲು ರಾವಣನು ಮಾಯಾಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದನು. 

ಯಕ್ಷರು ಸೋತರು.ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಕುಬೇರನೂ ಸೋತು ಸುಣ್ಣವಾದನು.

ರಾವಣನ ದುರಹಂಕಾರ ಧರ್ಮಿಷ್ಠ ಕುಬೇರನನ್ನು ಕೆರಳಿಸಿತು.ಅವನು ನೀಡಿದ ಹಿತವಚನಗಳನ್ನು ಧಿಕ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಪುಷ್ಪಕ ವಿಮಾನವನ್ನು  ಗೆಲುವಿನ ಸ್ಮರಣಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ ರಾವಣನು  ತನ್ನದಾಗಿಸಿದನು. ಕುಬೇರನ ಹಿತವಚನ ನಿಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಶಾಪವಾಗತೊಡಗಿತು.

ವರಗಳ ಮದ,ಗೆಲುವಿನ ಮದಗಳು ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಕುರುಡಾಗಿಸಿದವು.

ಪುಷ್ಪಕವನ್ನೇರಿ ಕೈಲಾಸವನ್ನೇರತೊಡಗಿದ.

ಒಂದೆಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಷ್ಪಕವು ಮುಂದುವರಿಯದಾಯಿತು.

ಕಾರಣವೇನಿರಬಹುದೆಂದು ಚಿಂತಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಶಿವ ಭಕ್ತ-ದೂತ ನಂದಿಯು ಬಂದು ಮುಂದೆ ಶಿವಪಾರ್ವತಿಯರು ಏಕಾಂತದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ  ಹಿಂದಿರುಗುವಂತೆ ಹೇಳಿದ. ರಾವಣ ಅವನನ್ನು, ಅವನ ಮರ್ಕಟ ರೂಪದ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಹೀಯಾಳಿಸಿ ಅಟ್ಟಹಾಸ ಮಾಡಿದ. 

ಇದರಿಂದ ಅವಮಾನಿತನಾದ ನಂದೀಶ್ವರನು-ನಿನ್ನ ಕುಲದ ವಿನಾಶ ನನ್ನಂತೆಯೇ ಇರುವ ವಾನರರೂಪಿಗಳಿಂದಾಗುವುದು.ನಾನೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಬಲ್ಲೆನಾದರೂ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಸತ್ತ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು  ನಾನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದಿಲ್ಲ- ಎಂದು ಶಾಪವಿತ್ತನು.ಆದರೆ ದರ್ಪಿತ ರಾವಣನು ಇದನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೆ ತನಗಡ್ಡವಾಗಿರುವ ಕೈಲಾಸವನ್ನೇ ಕಿತ್ತೊಗೆಯಲು ತನ್ನ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು  ಚಾಚಿದನು.ಪರ್ವತದ ಬುಡಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈಹಾಕಿ ಎತ್ತತೊಡಗಿದಾಗ ಗಿರಿ ಅಲ್ಲಾಡಿತು.ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಮನಗಂಡ ಶಿವನು ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲಿನ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳಿನಿಂದ ನೆಲವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಲು ರಾವಣನ ಕೈಗಳು ಪರ್ವತದಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಅಪ್ಪಚ್ಚಿಯಾದವು.

ನೋವು ತಾಳಲಾರದೆ  ರಾವಣನು ಮೂರುಲೋಕಗಳೂ ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿ ಸುವಂತೆ ಭಯಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಅರಚಿದನು.ಬಳಿಕ ತನ್ನ ಸಚಿವರ ಸಲಹೆಯಂತೆ ಶಿವನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಗೊಳಿಸಿದನು.

ಶಿವನು ಆಶುತೋಷ(ಬೇಗನೇ ಸಂತೋಷಗೊಳ್ಳುವವ)!ರಾವಣನಿಗೊಲಿದ!

ಅವನ ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ಕೂಗನ್ನಾಧರಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು 'ರಾವಣ'(ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಲೋಕಗಳನ್ನು ರಾವಿತ-ಕೂಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕಾರಣ)ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಸಿದನು.ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ದಶಗ್ರೀವನು ರಾವಣನೆಂದೇ (ಕು)ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧನಾದ.ಇದರೊಡನೆ ರಾವಣನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯಂತೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪೂರ್ಣಾಯುಷ್ಯವನ್ನೂ,

'ಚಂದ್ರಹಾಸ'ವೆಂಬ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನೂ ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿದನು.ರಾವಣನ ಪತನದ ಜೈತ್ರಯಾತ್ರೆ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯಿತು.

Initially, Ravana with his mighty army travelled towards Kailasa, where there was the world of Yaksha. The brother of Ravana the lord of wealth Kubera himself was it's master . The war began with the Yakshas .

When Ravana could not defeat them in the face to face battle ,he began to fight through illusion. 

The Yakshas got defeated. Kubera too who came to battle got defeated utterly. 

The atrocity of the egotist Ravana, provoked the man of righteousness    Kubera. Ravana by disdaining the good advice given by Kubera, took the Pushpaka Vimaana into his possession in memory of his victory. 

The good advice of Kubera became a curse gradually. 

The arrogance of the boons, the arrogance of the victory made Ravana blind.

By climbing up the Pushpaka Vimaana, he began to climb up Kailasa.

But at a point of time the Pushpaka Vimaana stopped moving. 

While thinking about what could be the reason for that, the devotee and the messenger of the lord Shiva, Nandi came and told him to go back since ShivaPaarwathi were in a secluded place . By looking at his monkey appearance Ravana abused him and guffawed .

Nandeeshwara who got humiliated by this ,cursed Ravana that Ravana's clan would be annihilated by the monkeys who possess the same appearance. Further he said that, though he could kill him he would not kill him who had already died. But the egotist Ravana ignoring all these extended his 20 hands to pluck Kailasa which was in his way. When he began to lift Kailasa from the root itself with his hands the mountain trembled .

The lord Shiva who learnt about this, pressed the ground with his thumb finger of the foot by which Ravana's hands got entangled under the mountain and got crushed. 

Ravana who couldn't tolerate the pain, screamed loudly which startled and echoed in the 3 worlds. Later as per the suggestion of his ministers, he prayed and praised lord Shiva and pleased him. Shiva is ' Aashuthosha' ( the one who gets pleased soon ) ! He was pleased by Ravana ! He named him Ravana based on his terrific scream ( since he marched all the worlds with his scream ). Ever since then , Dashagreeva was well - Known as Ravana( notoriety). Along with this ,as per the prayer of Ravana, Shiva granted him longevity and the sword ' Chandrahaasa'. The journey of Ravana's downfall  proceeded.
