ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೧೭೦

ವೇದವತಿ- ಬೃಹಸ್ಪತಿಯ ಮಗ ಕುಶಧ್ವಜನ ಮಗಳು.ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯಂತೆ ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುವೇ ತನ್ನ ಪತಿಯಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಯಸಿ ಹಿಮಾಲಯದ ಉದ್ಯಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅತಿಸುಂದರ ತರುಣಿ.

ದಿಗ್ವಿಜಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದ ರಾವಣನ ಕಾಮುಕ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಅವಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿತ್ತು.ಅವನ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವಳು ಚಿಕ್ಕಾಸಿನ ಬೆಲೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.ಆಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರಿ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರಿಯಾಗಲು ಹೊರಟ! ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದಲಾದರೂ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದೇ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಎಂಬ ಹಠದಿಂದ ಅವಳ ಮುಡಿಗೇ ಕೈಯಿಕ್ಕಿದನು.

ಅವಳು ಸುಕೇಶಿನಿ.ತಪಸ್ವಿನಿ!ತನ್ನ  ಅಂಗೈಯನ್ನೇ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಮುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಅವನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತಳಾದಳು.

ಪಾಪಿ ರಾವಣ ಮುಟ್ಟಿದ ದೇಹ ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ತಪೋಬಲದಿಂದ ಚಿತಾಗ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾರಿ ಭಸ್ಮವಾದಳು.

ಅದರ ಮೊದಲು ರಾವಣನಿಗೆ-

ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸಿ ದಹಿಸಬಲ್ಲೆನಾದರೂ,ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ತಪಸ್ಸಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಇಚ್ಛಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ನಾನು  ಮತ್ತೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಬರುವೆನು-ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.

ರಾವಣ- 

ಅಣ್ಣ ಕುಬೇರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿ ಗುರುದ್ರೋಹದ 

ಪಾಪ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡ.

ಇದೀಗ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಹತ್ಯಾ ಪಾಪ!

ಜೈತ್ರಯಾತ್ರೆಯೋ? ಪಾಪದ ಪತನಯಾತ್ರೆಯೋ!?

ಗುರುನೆಲೆ ತಪ್ಪಿದವ ಉಳಿಯಲುಂಟೇ? 

ಸೂತ್ರ ಹರಿದ ಗಾಳಿಪಟ!!

ಎತ್ತರೆತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೋ ಹಾರತೊಡಗಿದ!

ವೇದವತಿ ಮರುಜನ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾವರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಳು.ಈ ಬಾಲೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ರಾವಣನ ಕೈಗೆ ಹೋದಳು.ಶುಭಾಶುಭ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳನ್ನು ಬಲ್ಲ ಸಚಿವನು ಇವಳು ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯ- ಎಂದು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದನು.ಆಗ ರಾವಣನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತೇsಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯು ಅದು ಹೇಗೋ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿತು.ಅದೂ ಜನಕನ ಕರ್ಮಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೇ ಸೇರಿತು! ಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಜನಕನು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನುಳುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ನೇಗಿಲಿನ ಗುಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಸಾಲುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂತು!ಜನಕ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆದ!  ನೋಡುತ್ತಾನೆ- ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಶಿಶು!ಅವಳೇ ಸೀತೆ! ಜನಕನ ಮುದ್ದಿನ ಮಗಳಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದಳು. ಮುಂದೆ ಸ್ವಯಂವರದಲ್ಲಿ 

ನಿನ್ನ  ಸತಿಯಾದಳು.

ಆ ವೇದವತಿಯೇ ಸೀತೆಯಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಪಥವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿದಳು.

ರಾವಣಚರಿತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಸೀತಾಚರಿತೆ!

ಇದು ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯರು ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಕತೆ!!

Vedavathi - the daughter of Kushadhwaja who was the son of Bruhaspathi. She was an extremely beautiful woman who had been penancing in the forest of the Himalayas to be the wife of Mahaavishnu as per the wish of her father. The lust filled sight of Ravana who had gone for the conquest of the worlds fell on her. She did not give the value of even a penny to the colorful words of Ravana which made him seduce her aggressively ! He wanted to obtain her at any cost even if it was forcefully and he caught hold of her hair.

She was Sukeshini .The woman devoted to prayer and meditation ! She made her palm a sword and cut off her hair and got redeemed from the clutch of Ravana. 

She rejected her own body since it was touched by the sinner Ravana and she created a pyre by the power of her penance, jumped into the fire and got burnt into ashes. 

Before burning herself she told Ravana - 

Though she could burn him by cursing, she didn't want to do that since she did not want to lose the power of her penance. And she further said that she would born again to slay him.

Ravana  - 

He made a sin of betraying the Guru by battling with his elder brother Kubera. 

Now committed the deed of assassinating a woman !

Is it the journey of the expedition? Or the journey of the downfall of the sinful deeds ?

Will the one who have failed to respect the Guru survive ?

A kite with a torn thread !!

He began to fly higher and higher without any boundary !

Vedavathi born again in Lotus in the next birth.  This girl again went into the hands of Ravana. The minister who knew the auspicious and the inauspicious omens, warned him that his life would be in a threat if the girl would reside in his palace. During the time Ravana put her in a trunk and let that afloat in the ocean. The trunk somehow reached the earth. That too it came to the field of Janaka where he worked ! While Janaka was ploughing for the sacrificial ritual, the trunk came up amidst of the lines by getting entangled to the sharp end of the Plough ! Janaka opened the trunk ! He saw a beautiful female child inside the trunk ! She herself was Seetha ! She grew up as a beloved daughter of Janaka . Later in ' Swayamvara ' she became the wife of Seetha.

Vedavathi herself being Seetha born again and fulfilled her vow.

Seethaacharitha ( the history of Seetha ) which comes in Ravanacharitha ( the history of Ravana) !

This is the story which was narrated by Agasthya to Rama !!
