ಅಂಗದನ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನುಮ ಸಹಿತ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಾನರವೀರರು ಸಂಪಾತಿ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದರು.ಕಣ್ಣೆಟುಕದಷ್ಟು ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾದ ಜಲರಾಶಿ! ದಿಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಗೊತ್ತು! ಹಾರುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ? ಎಷ್ಟು? ಯಾರು? ಹೇಗೆ? ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು ಬಂದಾಗ

ಬರುವಾಗ ಇದ್ದ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಅಡಗಿತು.ಆದರೆ ಯುವರಾಜ ಅಂಗದ ಕೈಚೆಲ್ಲಲಿಲ್ಲ! ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಸಂಪಾತಿಯು ಬಹು ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಸುಳಿವು-ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದನು.ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕೂರಿಸಿ ಚರ್ಚಿಸ ತೊಡಗಿದನು.ಯಾರು ಎಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಹಾರಬಹುದು? ಎಂಬ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ನಡೆಯಿತು.ಕೊನೆಗೆ ನೂರು ಯೋಜನ ದೂರ ಹಾರಬಲ್ಲವ ಅಂಗದನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಎಂದಾಯಿತು.ಆದರೆ ರಾಜನಾದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಈ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವುದು ರಾಜನೀತಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಎಂದು ಜಾಂಬವಂತನು ಹೇಳಿದನು.ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳಾಗುವಾಗ ಹನುಮನು ಏಕಾಂಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದ.ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಜಾಂಬವಂತನು ಹನುಮನ ಬಳಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಾಗರೋಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸಿದನು.

ಹನುಮನ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಲು ಅವನ ಹುಟ್ಟಿನ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು-

ವಾನರ ಲೋಕದ ಏಕೈಕ ವೀರನಾದ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಅಂಜನಾ ದೇವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ವಾಯುಪುತ್ರ! ಅವಳು ಕಪಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಾದ ಕೇಸರಿಯ ಪತ್ನಿ.ಆದರೆ ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅವಳ ಅಂದವನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಮೋಹಿತನಾದ ವಾಯುದೇವನು ಮಾನಸಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣನಾದನು.ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 'ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಧಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಸರಿಸಮಾನನಾದ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ವಂತನೂ,ವೀರನೂ ಆದ ಮಗ' ನಿನಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.ಒಂದು ಗುಹೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಜನಿಸಿದೆ ಬೆಳೆದೆ.ಆಗಿನ್ನೂ ನೀನು ಬಾಲಕ.ಆಗ ತಾನೇ ಉದಯಿಸಿದ ಸೂರ್ಯನನ್ನು ಹಣ್ಣೆಂದು ಬಗೆದು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತು ತರಲೆಂದು ಹಾರಿದೆ.ನಿನ್ನ ಸಾಹಸವನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಸಿಟ್ಟಿಗೆದ್ದ ಇಂದ್ರನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ವಜ್ರಾಯುಧವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಲು ನೀನು ಪರ್ವತದ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದೆ.ಇದರಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಎಡದವಡೆಯು ಜಜ್ಜಿ ಹೋಯಿತು.ಅದರಿಂದಲೇ ನೀನು ಹನುಮಂತನಾದೆ.ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಇಂದ್ರನು ಪ್ರಹರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ವಾಯುದೇವನು ಸಿಟ್ಟಿಗೆದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಚಾರವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ.ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೋಲ ಕಲ್ಲೋಲವುಂಟಾಯಿತು. ದೇವತೆಗಳು ವಾಯುದೇವನನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.ಆಗ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅಸ್ತ್ರಾಘಾತದಿಂದ ಸಾವು ಬರದಿರಲೆಂಬ ವರವನ್ನಿತ್ತನು.

ಇಂದ್ರನು ನೀನು ಇಚ್ಛಾಮರಣಿಯಾಗು ಎಂಬ ವರವನ್ನಿತ್ತನು-

ಇಷ್ಟು ಹೇಳಿದ ಜಾಂಬವಂತನು ಕೊನೆಗೆ-  ಸರ್ವಸಾಧ್ಯನಾದ ನೀನು ಈಗ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣು ತ್ರಿವಿಕ್ರಮನಾದಂತೆ ಕಾಮರೂಪನಾದ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಪಡಿಸಲು; ವಾನರ ವೀರರನ್ನು ತೃಪ್ತಿ ಪಡಿಸಲು ಸಾಗರೋಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು -ಎಂದು ಹುರಿದುಂಬಿಸಿ ಮಹಾಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸಿದನು.ಜಾಂಬವಂತ ಗೆದ್ದನು.ಮಾರುತಿ ಮಾರುತನಾಗಿ ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಾರಲು ತನ್ನ ಶರೀರವನ್ನು ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದನು.

ಮಾರುತಿಯ ತ್ರಿವಿಕ್ರಮ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಕಂಡೇ ವಾನರರು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿದರು-ನಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸವಾಯಿತು- ಎಂದು.ಹನುಮನು ಹಿರಿಯರ ಕಾಲಿಗೆರಗಿದನು.ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಶುಭ ಕೋರಿದರು.

ಜಾಂಬವಂತನಂತೂ- ನೀನು ಮರಳಿ ಬರುವ ತನಕ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಕಾಲಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಎದುರು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೇವೆ-ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಬೀಳ್ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

ಹನುಮಂತನು ಸಾಗರೋಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಹೇಂದ್ರ ಪರ್ವತವನ್ನೇರಿದನು.

ಕಿಷ್ಕಿಂಧಾ ಕಾಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಮಂಗಳ.

Hanuman and all the other monkey soldiers reached the south direction of the sea as Sampaathi said, under the initiative of Angada. It was the vast sea which was stretched out of sights. Only the direction was known ! Where to fly ? How much ? Who ? How ? When these questions rose the enthusiasm that they had was suppressed. But the prince Angada did not lose hopes. Because Sampaathi had given them very precious information and hints. Angada discussed with everyone. They discussed on who could fly far among them. Finally they came to the conclusion that only Angada could fly upto 100 yojana away. But Jaambavantha said that it would be against the laws to send Angada who was the prince, to this adventure. Hanuman was sitting alone when these discussions were going on.  Jaambavantha who saw Hanuman sitting alone went to him and encouraged him to leap across the sea.

Jaambavantha narrated the story of Hanuman's birth to make him realize his own abilities and potentialities. He began his narration:

Hanuman was the sole valiant of the Monkey world who was known as 'Vaayu putra' which means the son of the God Vaayu. He was born to Anjana Davi .She was the wife of Kesari who was superior among the monkeys. But one day the God of wind Vaayu was enraptured by her beauty and he touched her psychologically, which became the reason for the birth of Hanuman. Vaayu told Anjana devi that she would be blessed with a male child who would be wise, valiant and equivalent to Vaayu in every way. And Hanuman was born and grew in a cave. Jaambavantha said that, when Hanuman was too small,he had flown towards the sun which had just rose, to pluck it by assuming the sun as a fruit. Indra who had witnessed that became furious and attacked Hanuman through Vajraayudha. Hanuman fell at the edge of the mountain.  As a result his left jaw got thwacked. And that's how he came to known as Hanuman. Vaayu had stopped his movement in anger since Indra had attacked on Hanuman. There was turbulence in all the 3 worlds. The gods calmed Vaayu down. During the time Brahma granted a boon to Hanuman that he would not die of being attacked by the artilleries. Indra too granted him a boon to have a willed death ( Iccha Marana). At last, after narrating these stories Jaambavantha told Hanuman to determine himself to fulfill the duty. Jaambavantha encouraged Hanuman to the great adventure of leaping across the sea who could assume any form, in the same way how Vishnu assumed the form of Trivikrama. In this way Jaambavantha asked Hanuman to exhibit his capabilities and to make the monkey soldiers happy. 

Jaambavantha succeeded in his attempt.  Maaruthi  being Maarutha ( wind) grew his body marvellously. The monkeys came to the conclusion that their work would be done when they saw Tri - Vikrama form of Maaruthi. Hanuman fell to the feet of the elders to seek their blessings.  Jaambavantha send him off by saying that  they all would be waiting there itself standing in one leg until he returned. 

Hanuman climbed up Mahendra Mountain to take the great leap across the sea (Saagarollanghane).
