ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೭೨

ರಾಮಾ ರಾಮಾ... ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಾ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಾ... ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ,ರಾವಣನ ಹಿಡಿತದಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸೀತೆಯು ಆಕ್ರಂದನ ಮಾಡುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಅವಳು ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿದ್ದು ಜಟಾಯು.ಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಜಟಾಯು ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಅಪಹರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಾವಣನ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡವಾಗಿ ಬಂತು.ಮೊದಲು ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದ, ಬಳಿಕ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮದ ದುಷ್ಪರಿಣಾಮ...ಏನೇ ಹೇಳಿದರೂ; ಹೇಗೆಯೇ ಹೇಳಿದರೂ ರಾವಣ ಜಗ್ಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಜಟಾಯು ಮುದಿತನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೂ 

ತನ್ನ ಕಟ್ಟಕಡೆಯ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವೆಂಬಂತೆ ರಾವಣನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಘೋಷಿಸಿತು.ಹಾರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಇಳಿಯುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಜಟಾಯುವಿನ ಸಾಹಸಕ್ಕೆ ನಮೋನಮಃ.

ಜಟಾಯುವಿಗೂ ರಾಮನಿಗೂ ಇರುವ ಸಂಬಂಧ 'ತಂದೆ ದಶರಥನ ಗೆಳೆಯ'ಎಂದು.ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳ ಆಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಪಂಚವಟಿಗೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಜಟಾಯು ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ-ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹಾಯಕನಾಗಿ ನಾನಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ.ನೀವಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಆಶ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲದ ವೇಳೆ ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಯುತ್ತೇನೆ-ಎಂಬ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರಿನ ತನಕ ಉಳಿಸಿತು.

ರಾವಣನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರತಿರೋಧವನ್ನೊಡ್ಡಿದರೂ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರು ಬರುವ ತನಕ ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ತಡೆಹಿಡಿಯಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.ಹೇಳಿಕೇಳಿ ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ವೀರ!ವನದೇವತೆಗಳೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದ (ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವ ಹೊಣೆಯನ್ನು ವನದೇವತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದನು) ಮೇಲೆ ಜಟಾಯುವನಿದೇನು!? ತನ್ನ ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನೇ ಜಟಾಯುವು ಮುರಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ರಾವಣನು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಅದರ ರೆಕ್ಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದ.ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಬಲ ರೆಕ್ಕೆ.ರೆಕ್ಕೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ? ಜಟಾಯು ನೆಲಕ್ಕೊರಗಿತು.ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾಣದ ಹಂಗು ತೊರೆದು ಹೋರಾಡಿದ ಸೀತೆಯು ಜಟಾಯುವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿ ರೋದಿಸುತ್ತಾ  ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯ ಅಂತಿಮ ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯದ ಅಪ್ಪುಗೆಯನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದಳು.

ತನಗೆದುರಾದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಅಡೆತಡೆಯು ನಿವಾರಣೆಯಾಯಿತು.ರಾವಣ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೀತೆಯ ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕೈಯಿಕ್ಕಿ ಲಂಕೆಯತ್ತ ಹಾರಿದ, ಪ್ರಾಣಪಕ್ಷಿ ಹಾರುವಂತೆ!!

Jataayu was the one who had arrived there to help Seetha when she was crying out the names of Raama - Lakshmana and when she was trying to escape from the clutch of Raavana. Jataayu which was lying on a tree, came in the way of Raavana who was doing the evil deed of abducting Seetha. Advised him in the beginning, then explained him about the consequences of his wicked deed  but Raavana did not change his mind. Though Jataayu was too old, it waged war against Raavana as if it was its last attempt to save Seetha. The valor of Jataayu was commendable when it made Raavana to descend to the earth who was flying. The relationship between Rama and Jataayu was that it was the friend of Rama's father Dasharatha. Jataayu, whom did Rama meet while walking towards Panchavati from the hermitage of Agasthya Maharshi, had promised Rama that it would be there for them for any help and it would safeguard Seetha in their absence. Jataayu kept its word or promise till its last breath. It kept on fighting with Raavana. Though it protested against him beyond its strength, it could not capture and prevent Raavana till the arrival of Rama and Lakshmana. 

Moreover Raavana was a valiant man of 3 worlds! Even the goddesses of the forest had run away being scared of him (while Lakshmana was leaving Seetha alone in the forest, he had given the responsibility of safeguarding her to the goddesses of the forest), then what could have been done by Jataayu!? Raavana cut the wings off of Jataayu with sword, when it broke his bow. The right wing of the bird. What happens if there is no wing? Jataayu fell down to the ground. Seetha lamented and wailed for Jataayu which fought with Raavana to save her by risking its life. She gave Jataayu the last hug of gratitude, love and affection. 

The last hurdle which was there in the way of Raavana was also sorted out. As if life flies away, Raavana flew to Lanka by holding Seetha by her waist...
