ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೨೧

ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರ-ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರನ್ನು  ಸತ್ಕರಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ವಿನೀತ ಜನಕನು ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನಿಂದೇನಾಗಬೇಕು ಆದೇಶಿಸಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು.ಆಗ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶಿವಧನುಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಇವರಿಗೆ ತೋರಿಸು ಎಂದು ಜನಕನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಶಿವಧನುಸ್ಸನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವ ಮೊದಲು ಅದು ತಮ್ಮ ವಂಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯನ್ನು  ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಜನಕನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದನು- ದಕ್ಷ ಯಾಗದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನು ಹವಿಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇದ್ದ ನಿಮ್ಮಗಳ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಶಿವನು ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡಲು ಸಿದ್ಧನಾದಾಗ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸಿ ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.ಆಗ ಶಿವನು ಆ ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನು ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಗೇ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಅದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯನಾದ ದೇವರಾತನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಕ್ಷೇಪರೂಪವಾಗಿಟ್ಟರು.ಅದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಪೂಜ್ಯ ಭಾವನೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ತನಕ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಒಮ್ಮೆ ನಾನು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಉಳುಮೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ನೇಗಿಲ ಕುಳದ ತುದಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗುವೊಂದು ಹೊರಬಂದಿತು.ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಸೀತೆಯೆಂದು ನಾಮಕರಣ ಮಾಡಿ ಮಗಳಂತೆಯೇ ಸಾಕಿ ಸಲಹಿದ ದೊಡ್ಡವಳನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿದೆ.ಇದೀಗ ಮದುವೆಗೆ ಅರ್ಹಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.ಈ ಧನುಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಶಿಂಜನಿಯನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆದು ಹೆದೆಯೇರಿಸಿ ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡುವ ಅತುಲ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗೆ ಇವಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆಂಬ ಷರತ್ತು (ವೀರ್ಯ ಶುಲ್ಕ) ನನ್ನದು. ಈ ತನಕ ಗೆದ್ದವರು ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.ಸೋತವರೇ ಎಲ್ಲಾ.ಇದೀಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಣತಿಯಂತೆ ಈ ವೀರ ಪುತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಇದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಸೈನಿಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವಧನುಸ್ಸು ಇರುವ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ತರಲು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಏಳೆಂಟು ಮಂದಿ ಭಟರು ಅದನ್ನು ತಂದರು.ಮುಚ್ಚಳ ತೆಗೆದು ತೋರಿಸಿದರು.ಸಚಿವರ ಸಲಹೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಜನಕನು ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದನು.ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರ ಸೂಚನೆಯಂತೆ ರಾಮನು ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದನು.ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಬಿಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಶಿಂಜನಿಯನ್ನು ತೊಡಿಸಿ ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಸೆಯಾಯಿತು.ಲೀಲಾಜಾಲದಿಂದ ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನೆತ್ತಿದನು.ಬಿಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಬಾಗಿಸಿ ಶಿಂಜನಿಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೇನು ತೊಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎನ್ನುವಾಗ ಬಿಲ್ಲಿನ ಮಧ್ಯ ಭಾಗದಿಂದಲೇ ಅದು ಮುರಿದು ಬಿತ್ತು.ಜನಕನ ಸಂತಸಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾರವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.ರಾಮನ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ದಂಗಾದನು.ಬಳಿಕ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರಲ್ಲಿ-ಇದೀಗ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗಳು ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಿದೆ.ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅನುಮತಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಸಚಿವರನ್ನು ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಗೆ ಮುಂದಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ- ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಿದರು.

ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ಬಹು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಈಡೇರಿತು!!

After receiving Vishwamitra, Rama and Lakshmana with honour,  Janakaraja who was very generous asked Vishwamitra the purpose behind their arrival and asked to  command the work that Vishwamitra expected Janakaraja to do. In return Vishwamitra asked Janakaraja to show the mighty 'Shivadhanus ' to Rama and Lakshmana which he had inherited. But before that Janakaraja wished to recount the story of Shivadhanus and how it had come to the clan of Janakaraja. During the time of 'Dhaksha yajna', shiva was deprived of the Havissu which made him furious. The outraged Shiva took his mighty Bow in his hand and aimed at those who had gathered there to cut their heads off. He had to be calmed down  so all the gods together convinced and pleased Shiva by lauding him. Shiva was pleased by the Gods and he presented his Bow to the Gods. Later the Gods gave Shivadhanus to Devaraatha who was the ancestor of Janakaraja to safeguard the sacred bow. In this way Shivadhanus had been safeguard by the clan of Janakaraja for many years. 

After this Janaka explained them  how he found his daughter Seetha. Janakaraja raja found an infant while he was ploughing. The infant was caught by the narrow shape share of the Plough. Janaka felt blessed to have the baby and named her Seetha and raised her as his own daughter. Janakaraja told them that Seetha had already reached the age of marriage. But Janaka wanted her to marry off to a man who had the valor to accept his challenge and to win the challenge. So what was that challenge?

Janakaraja challenged  that whoever wanted to marry Seetha they had to lift the mighty bow Shivadhanus and string that.

Finally Shivadhanus was carried by seven to eight soldiers and presented before Rama and Lakshmana .By following the advice of the minister, Janaka sported Shivadhanus to Rama and Lakshmana.  Rama was mesmerized , the moment he saw Shivadhanus  ,and expressed his wish to lift the sacred Bow. As he wished, Rama lifted the mighty Bow  Shivadhanus in his mighty hands effortlessly which left everyone in awe as he was the only one who could lift the bow. When Rama was about to string the bow to release arrow Shivadhanus broke down by the might of Rama. Janaka was highly impressed and awestrucked by Rama. He was so glad that his happiness was beyond the boundary. 

After that he reverted to Vishwamitra and expressed his wish to marry his daughter off to Rama .He asked the consent of Vishwamitra to send his ministers to Ayodya to convey the matter to Dhasharatha. Vishwamitra agreed and gave his consent too .

One of the important purposes behind Vishwamitra asking Rama to accompany him was fulfilled.
