 ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯನಮ:

ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೧೯೯

ವಸಿಷ್ಠ, ವಾಮದೇವ,ಕಾಶ್ಯಪ,

ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರ, ದುರ್ವಾಸ,

ಗೌತಮ,ನಾರದರೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಮಹಾನ್ ಋಷಿಗಳು,ತಪಸ್ವಿಗಳು! ಸುಗ್ರೀವ,ಹನುಮ,ಅಂಗದ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಕಪಿವೀರರು!,

ವಿಭೀಷಣನೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು!,

ರಾಜರುಗಳು!,

ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ-ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯ-ವೈಶ್ಯ- ಶೂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಮುಖರು- 

ಯಜ್ಞ ಮಂಟಪದ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನ ಸಭೆಗೆ ಸೀತಾಶಪಥವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲು ಆಗಮಿಸಿದರು.

ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನೊಡನೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದರು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳಂತೆ ಮುಂದೇನಾಗುವುದೋ ಎನ್ನುವ ಕುತೂಹಲದಿಂದ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದರು.

ಸೀತಾರಾಮ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲ್ಲಿ.

ಮುಂದೆ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕಿ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು. 

 ಅವರ ಹಿಂದೆ ತಪಸ್ವಿನಿ ರೂಪದ ಸೀತಾದೇವಿ. 

ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿದ ತಲೆ,

ಜೋಡಿಸಿದ ಕೈಗಳು,

ಕಂಬನಿಯ ಧಾರೆಯನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸುವ ಕಂಗಳು. 

ಕೇವಲ ಕೇsವಲ ರಾಮನಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮೀಸಲಿದ್ದ  

ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ  ಹೃನ್ಮಂದಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನನ್ನಿರಿಸಿ ಸೀತಾದೇವಿ ಜನಸಮುದಾಯದ ಮಧ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಳು!

ಸಾಧು ಸೀತೇ ಸಾಧು,

ಸಾಧು ರಾಮಾ ಸಾಧು..ಎಂಬ ಕೂಗು ಜನರೆಡೆಯಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. 

ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕಿ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನಿಗೆ-

 ದಶರಥ ನಂದನ,

ಈ ಸೀತೆ ಧರ್ಮಚಾರಿಣಿ,

ವ್ರತನಿಷ್ಠಳು.ಲೋಕಾಪವಾದದ ಭಯದಿಂದ  ನನ್ನ ಆಶ್ರಮದ ಸಮೀಪ ವಿಸರ್ಜಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನಾಸರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬದುಕಿದವಳು.

ಈ ಕುಶ-ಲವರು ಜಾನಕಿಯ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಅವಳಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು. 

ನಿನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ನಿನ್ನಂತೆಯೇ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯರಾದ ವೀರರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.ನಾನು ಸತ್ಯವಾದ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ.ನಾನು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ  ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.ನಾನು ಮನ-ಮಾತು-ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿದವನಲ್ಲ.ಈ ಸೀತೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಶುದ್ಧ ಚಾರಿತ್ತ್ರ್ಯಳು.ಪತಿಯನ್ನೇ ಪರದೇವತೆಯಾಗಿ ಭಾವಿಸಿದವಳು.

ಲೋಕಾಪವಾದದಿಂದ ಭಯಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ನಿನಗೆ ತುಂಬಿದ ಈ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಾನು ಶುದ್ಧ ಚಾರಿತ್ತ್ರ್ಯಳು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಶಪಥದ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

ನಿನಗೆ ಇವಳು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಿಯಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.ಇವಳು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧಳೆಂಬುದು ನಿನಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ.ಆದರೂ ಲೋಕಾಪವಾದದಿಂದ ಇವಳನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿದೆ.ಈಗ ಇವಳಿಗೆ ಶಪಥ ಮಾಡಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡು- ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

Vasishta, Vaamadeva, Kaashyapa, Vishwamitra, Durvaasa, Gauthama, Narada and other great saints and ascetics ! Sugreeva, Hanuman, Angada and other monkey warriors !

Vibhishana and other monsters !

The kings !

Brahmana - Kshatriya - Vaishya - Shoodra chiefs - gathered in the pavilion of the sacrificial ritual for the assembly of ShreeRama to hear the oath of Seetha.

The gods arrived along with Brahma. Everyone was sitting as if statues with curiosity of what would happen next.

SeethaRama was in the throne. 

Valmiki Maharshi was ahead. 

Behind him, Seethadevi who was in the form of an ascetic woman. 

With head bending down, 

and joining the hands together,

the eyes which were shedding the flood of tears .

Seethadevi walked into the center of the mass by placing ShreeRama in the sacred temple of her heart which was reserved only ,only for Rama !

The cry as - " the virtuous Seetha virtuous, 

the virtuous Rama virtuous " - was heard from the crowd. 

Valmiki to ShreeRama - 

" Dasharatha Nandana ( the son of Dasharatha ), Seetha is the one who practices religion, the one who dedicated herself to the observance. She has survived under my shelter after being deserted nearby my hermitage, fearing for the blame of the world. 

These Kusha - Lava have taken birth from the womb of Jaanaki.

They are your own offsprings. 

They too are peerless valiants just as you. I am uttering the words of truth. I have performed penance for 1000 years. I have never committed any sin in the mind - the words - or in the deeds. Indeed, Seetha is purely a chaste woman. She is the one who has assumed the husband as the God.

She is going to prove through the oath, to you who is panicked by the blame of the world, that she is purely a chaste woman, in this crowded assembly. 

She is the one who is dearest to you . You too know that she is pure and sacred. But still you abandoned her fearing for the blame of the world. Now allow her to affirm the oath ".
