ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೧೪೭

ವಿಭೀಷಣ,ಅಂಗದ,ಹನುಮರೊಡನೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ನಿಕುಂಭಿಲಾದೇವಿಯ ಮಂದಿರದ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು. ವಿವಿಧ ಅಸ್ತ್ರ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವಿನ ಮಹಾಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದನು.ವೈರಿಯು ಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಧದಲ್ಲೇ  ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಹೊರ ಬರುವಂತಾಗಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾರಣ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು. ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದು ನಡೆಯಿತು. 

'ಮೂಗು ಮುಚ್ಚಿದರೆ ಬಾಯಿ ಬಿಡಲೇ ಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೇ?'

ವೃಕ್ಷಾಯುಧರಾದ(ಮರವನ್ನು ಆಯುಧವನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿದ) ವಾನರವೀರರು ರಕ್ಕಸರನ್ನು ಆಕ್ರಮಿಸಿದರು. ಇತ್ತ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ವಿಭೀಷಣನ ಸಲಹೆಯಂತೆ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವನ್ನು ಗುರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿ ಆಕ್ರಮಿಸಿದನು. ಯಜ್ಞ ಕುಂಡದ ಕಾವಲಿಗೆ ನಿಂತವರು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನ ಬಾಣಗಳ ಕಾವಿಗೆ ಆಹುತಿಯಾಗತೊಡಗಿದರು.

ಅತಿಯಾದ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸದ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತು ಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಧದಲ್ಲೇ  ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಧನುರ್ಧಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ರಥವನ್ನೇರಿದ!ಇನ್ನು ಅವನಿಂದ ಮಾಯಾಯುದ್ಧ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯ.!!

ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನ ಹೊಡೆತದಿಂದ ಪಲಾಯನ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ರಕ್ಕಸ ಸೇನೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಯುದ್ಧಾರಂಭ ಮಾಡಿತು.ಹನುಮನು ಹೆಮ್ಮರವೊಂದನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತು ಅದರಿಂದ ಅವೆಷ್ಟೋ ಮಂದಿ ರಕ್ಕಸರನ್ನು ಸಾಯಬಡಿದನು.

ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತು ಹನುಮನ ಬಳಿ ಸಾರಿದನು.

ಆದರೆ  ವಿಭೀಷಣನ ಸೂಚನೆಯಂತೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ವಿಭೀಷಣನೊಡಗೂಡಿ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಲು ಸಿದ್ಧ ನಾದನು.ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧಾಹ್ವಾನ ನೀಡಿದನು.

ತನ್ನ ಚಿಕ್ಕಪ್ಪನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವಿಗೆ ಕೋಪ ಉಕ್ಕೇರಿತು.ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಬಂದಂತೆ ಬಯ್ದನು.

ವಿಭೀಷಣನ ಹಿರಿತನವನ್ನು ಕಡೆಗಣಿಸಿ ಜರೆದಾಗ ವಿಭೀಷಣನು ರಾವಣನ ಒಪ್ಪಲಾಗದ ತಪ್ಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾರಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.ಆದರೆ ದುರಹಂಕಾರಿಗೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ?

ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಕದನ ವೀಳ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬಾಣಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಕೊಟ್ಟಾಗ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತು ಅದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದನು.ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನು ಕೊಚ್ಚಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳತೊಡಗಿದಾಗ 

ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು  ನೇರಾ ನೇರ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದನು. ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಅಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವೀರರು.'ಸ್ವಪ್ರಯತ್ನದ ಧರ್ಮನಿಷ್ಠ ಸಾಹಸಿ ಮಾನವ'ನೊಂದಿಗೆ 'ವರಗಳ ಬಲದ ಅಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ದುಸ್ಸಾಹಸಿ ದಾನವ'ನ ಕದನ!

 ಇಬ್ಬರೂ  ಸಮಬಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋರಾಡಿದರು.ಅನಾಯಾಸವಾಗಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಬಾಣಗಳ ವಿನಿಮಯ ನಡೆದವು. ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಯೋಧಸಹಜ ನೆತ್ತರ ದೇಹದಿಂದ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಅಜೇಯ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ಮೊದಲಬಾರಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಲುಮಾನವನ ಎದುರು ಗೆಲ್ಲಲು ಏದುಸಿರು ಪಡುವ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.ಅವನ ಅಹಮಿಕೆಗೆ ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಪೆಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವಿನ ಮೊಗ ಬಾಡತೊಡಗಿತು....

Lakshmana along with Vibhishana, Angada and Hanuman went near the temple of the goddess Nikumbhilaadevi. Indrajith who was well- armed with varieties of artilleries and weapons entered the huge army. If the enemy had to be prevented from performing the sacrificial ritual and come out then the horrible attack had to take place on the enemies. And that took place under the initiation of Lakshmana. 

' If the nose gets shut then the mouth has to be opened, isn't it ?'

The monkey warriors being armed with trees ( Vrukshaayudha - using tree as a weapon) attacked the monsters. On the other hand, as per the suggestion of Vibhishana, Lakshmana targeted Indrajith and attacked him. Those who were guarding the sacrificial ritual pot, were burnt by the heat of Lakshmana's arrows. The self confident Indrajith left the sacrificial ritual incomplete and climbed his chariot being armed with Bow and arrows  ! It became impossible for him then to fight through illusion ( MaayaYudha)...!!

The army of the monsters who had run away after getting hit by Lakshmana, began the war again. Hanuman plucked a huge tree and killed so many monsters with that.

Indrajith moved towards Hanuman. 

But as per the direction of Vibhishana, Lakshmana along with Vibhishana got ready to confront Indrajith. He invited him for the battle. 

When Indrajith saw his uncle Vibhishana, his anger rose to the pitch. He abused and rebuked him.

When Indrajith rebuked him without even considering and respecting his age ,Vibhishana mentioned all the evil,heinous deeds and mistakes that Ravana had done. But how can an arrogant man understand all these ?

When Lakshmana called Indrajith and gave the beetle as a sign of invitation to the war through the arrows, Indrajith too accepted that in the same manner. When Indrajith began to blow his own trumpet ( boasting himself), Lakshmana began to fight face to face. Both of them were peerless warriors. The demon who had the power of boons and who was an evildoer, and the follower of unrighteousness, was fighting with a man who was a follower of the righteousness and who was a valiant and adventurer by his own efforts !

Both fought with an equal force. Thousands of arrows got exchanged effortlessly. Both of them were sparkling with a bleeding body of warriors naturally. The unbeatable Indrajith reached the state where he was sighing to win against a human for the first time in his life. Lakshmana gave a hard blow to his ego and pride. The face of Indrajith began to wilt.
