ಅಶ್ವಮೇಧ ಯಾಗದ ಪೂರ್ವ ಸಿದ್ಧತೆಗೆ ರಾಮನು ವಸಿಷ್ಠ ವಾಮದೇವ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳ -ಪುರೋಹಿತರ ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ಕರೆದ.ಅವರ ಅನುತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಸಂತಸದಿಂದ ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಿದರು.

ಸುಗ್ರೀವ, ವಿಭೀಷಣ,

ರಾಜರುಗಳು, ಋಷಿ- ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು, ಕಲಾವಿದರು, ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳು...ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರಜೆಗೂ ಎನ್ನುವಂತೆ ಆಮಂತ್ರಣ ತಲುಪಿತು.ಅವರವರ ಬಂಧು ಬಾಂಧವರೊಡನೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಕರೆಯಲಾಯಿತು.ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಬಂದು ಸೇರಿದರು.

•ಗೋಮತೀನದಿಯ ತೀರದ ನೈಮಿಷಾರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞಶಾಲೆಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ.

•ಯಜ್ಞ,ದಾನ-ಧರ್ಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಸಕಲ ವಸ್ತುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ,

ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ,ಬಂಧು ಬಾಂಧವರೊಂದಿಗೆ,ಸೀತೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭರತ-ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದರು .

•ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನೇ ಸ್ವತಃ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ತೆರಳಿ ರಾಜರುಗಳಿಗೆ; ರಾಜಪರಿವಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಸಕಲ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ.

•ಸುಗ್ರೀವನು ತನ್ನ ವಾನರ ಸೇವಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಊಟಬಡಿಸುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ನೋಡಿದ.

•ವಿಭೀಷಣನು ತನ್ನ ಅನುಚರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರುಗಳ ಋಷಿಗಳ ಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದನು.

.ಯಜ್ಞದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಕಾದವರಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ್ದನ್ನು ಸಾಕು ಎನ್ನುವಷ್ಟು ದಾನ ಮಾಡುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.

•ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಕಾಲ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಯಜ್ಞವು ಹಿಂದೆ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆಯದು( ನ ಭೂತೋ ನ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ) ಎಂಬಂತೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

ಹೀಗೆ ನಡೆದ ಅಶ್ವಮೇಧ ಯಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕಿ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು ಕುಶ-ಲವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೂಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಸತ್ಕರಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಕುಶ-ಲವರಿಗೆ ಯಾಗಪ್ರದೇಶದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಸಮಗ್ರ ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಕಾವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಆನಂದದಿಂದ ಹಾಡಲು ಆದೇಶಿಸಿದರು.ನಗರದ ಹೊರಗಡೆಯೇ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಮಧುರವಾದ ಹಣ್ಣು ಗೆಡ್ಡೆ- ಗೆಣಸುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದುಕೊಂಡು,ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಬಯಸದೆ, ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸದೆ ಹಾಡಲು ಹೇಳಿದರು.ರಾಮನು ಕರೆದರೆ ಅವನೆದುರೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸಭಾಸದರನ್ನು ಗೌರವದಿಂದ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾ ಮೊದಲಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯ ತನಕ ಹಾಡಲು ಆದೇಶಿಸಿದರು. ಬಾಲಕರು ಗುರುವಿನ ಆಣತಿಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲು ಸಿದ್ಧರಾದರು.

Rama called the council meeting of the priests, Vasishta, Vaamadeva and other Maharshis for the preparation of the sacrificial ritual ' Ashwamedha '. When he asked their consent and prayed to them for the right suggestions, they agreed happily.

The invitation reached to Sugreeva, Vibhishana, kings, saints ,Maharshis, artists and the virtuous citizens...In this way the invitation reached every citizen. They were invited to come along with their family and relatives .Everyone came and gathered.

• The place to perform oblations in the sacrificial fire was built in the forest ' Naimishaaranya' on the shore of the river Gomathee.

• Bharatha and Shatrughna went there with all the things which required for the ritual, for the charity - giving alms and along with the people, relatives carrying the statue of Seetha.

• ShreeRama himself went there and made all the arrangements for the kings and for their families.

• Sugreeva along with his monkey servants took the responsibility of serving food to Brahmanas.

• Vibhishana along with his followers engrossed himself in serving the great men and the sages.

• The arrangements of giving alms in the sacrificial ritual were made to whoever wanted abundantly .

• The sacrificial ritual which took place more than a year, performed in such a way that it never happened before and would never happen after ( Na bhootho na bhavishyath).

Valmiki Maharshi arrived to witness Ashwamedha yaga which performed in a splendid way ,along with Kusha - Lava. ShreeRama honoured him with all the respect and proper hospitality. Valmiki commanded Kusha and Lava to sing the epic Ramayana entirely with happiness everywhere in the region where the sacrificial ritual was going on. He told them to sing staying outside the town by eating sweet fruits and potatoes and by not accepting and expecting any fortune. Further he commanded them to sing from the beginning till the end infront of Rama if he called them by respecting the entire gathering. The two little boys got ready to fulfill the command of the Guru.
