ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೧೯೪

ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನು ಪುಷ್ಪಕ ವಿಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ, ಉತ್ತರ, ಪೂರ್ವ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದ.ಕಂಡುಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಅಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸದಾಚಾರ ಸಂಪನ್ನರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಂಡುಬಂದರು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿಗೆ ಹೋದ.ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಶೈಲಪರ್ವತದ ಸರೋವರದ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ತಪಸ್ವಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಮರದ ರೆಂಬೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ತಲೆ ಕೆಳಗಾಗಿಸಿ ಮಹತ್ತರವಾದ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂತು.

ಅವನಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮ-

ಓ ವ್ರತನಿಷ್ಠನೇ!ನೀನು ಧನ್ಯನು.ನೀನು ಯಾವ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿರುವೆ? ನಾನು ದಶರಥನ ಸುತ ರಾಮ. ನೀನು ಏನನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿರುವೆ? ಸ್ವರ್ಗ ಅಥವಾ ಬೇರಾವುದಾದರ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಿಗಾಗಿ 

ಈ ಗಾಢ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವೆ?ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯ ವೈಶ್ಯ ಶೂದ್ರರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಯಾವ ವರ್ಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದವ? ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳು- ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ. 

ಆಗ ಶಂಬೂಕನೆಂಬ ಆ ಶೂದ್ರ ತಪಸ್ವಿಯು- ರಾಮ, ನಾನು ಶೂದ್ರ ವರ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವ.ಸಶರೀರನಾಗಿ ದೇವತ್ವವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು ದೇವಲೋಕವನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಈ ಉಗ್ರ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವೆನು.

ಇದು ಸತ್ಯ.- ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದನು.ಮರುಕ್ಷಣವೇ ರಾಮ ಒರೆಯಿಂದ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆದು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದ.(ರಾಮನ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಡಳಿತದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ತಪಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ನಿಷೇಧವಿತ್ತು) 

ತಾವು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ರಾಮನೇ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಂತಸದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಹೂಮಳೆಗರೆದರು,ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದರು. ನಿನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳು ಎಂದಾಗ 'ಸತ್ತಿರುವ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನ ಮಗನು ಬದುಕುವಂತಾಗಲಿ,ಅವನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ಬದುಕಿಸುವೆನೆಂಬ ಮಾತುಕೊಟ್ಟು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ,ನನ್ನಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಅಕಾಲ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಈಡಾಗಿದ್ದ.ಅವನು ಬದುಕಲಿ.'ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ.ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೇ ಆಗಲಿ ಎಂದರು.ಅದೇ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ   ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಪುತ್ರ ಜೀವತಳೆದು ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತ.ತನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ.

ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಆಹ್ವಾನದಂತೆ ರಾಮ ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯಾಶ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಾಣಲು ವಿಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆರಳಿದ.

ShreeRama travelled around the West, the North and the East in Pushpaka Vimaana and searched for the evildoer. But he was not found. 

Only the virtuous men were found everywhere there. At last he travelled towards the South. There he saw an ascetic near the lake of Shaila mountain, who was performing an ardent penance by holding the branch of a tree in his legs being upside down. 

ShreeRama goes to him and speaks - 

" Oh man, devoted to observance ! You are a fortune. What surrounding are you born in ? I am Rama ,the son of Dasharatha. What have you been expecting ? Are you penancing to attain the heaven or to attain anything else ? What Varna do you belong to among Brahmana, Kshatriya,  Vaishya and Shoodra ? Say the truth " - Rama said to the ascetic. During the time the ascetic named Shambooka who was a Shoodra says - " Rama, I am born in a Shoodra Varna. I have been performing the ardent penance to take the Devaloka ( heaven) under my possession and intend to enter the heaven with this mortal body by obtaining divinity . This is true " - he answered in this way. The very next moment Rama dragged the sword from the sheath and cut his head off.

(This kind of penance was prohibited in the reign of Rama). The Gods being pleased by the work done by Rama which was supposed to be done by them, showered flowers on him and praised Rama. When they told Rama to ask for boons he wanted, he asked to bring the son of Brahmana back to the life since he had promised the Brahmana that he would bring the life of his child back as the child had been subjected to an untimely death because of him. Rama asks, ' Let him live '. The gods too agreed to grant what he had asked for. During the time, the son of Brahmana rose to the feet with the new life. He joined his relatives and people. 

As per the request of the gods, Rama went to the hermitage of Agasthya in Pushpaka Vimaana to see him .
