ರಾಮನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲೇ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನವೆನ್ನುವಂತೆ 'ಜನಸಂವಾದ' ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. 

ಒಂದು ದಿನ ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಋಷಿಗಳೊಡನೆ ಚ್ಯವನ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು ರಾಮನ ಭೇಟಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.ರಾಜೋಚಿತ ಉಪಚಾರಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ ರಾಮನು ತನ್ನಿಂದ ಏನಾಗಬೇಕು ಆಜ್ಞೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಎಂದು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ  ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಚ್ಯವನ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು ಲವಣಾಸುರನ ಉಪಟಳವನ್ನು ವಿವರವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು-

ಮಧು ಎಂಬ ಶಿವಭಕ್ತ ಬಹುಪರಾಕ್ರಮೀ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನಿದ್ದನು.ಅವನು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಪ್ರಿಯ,

ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ.

ಅವನು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಶಿವನ ಕುರಿತು ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನ ಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದ ಶಿವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ಶೂಲಾಯುಧವನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದನು."ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸುವವರೆಗೆ ಅದು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿದೆಯಾದರೆ ಅದು ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ" ಎಂಬ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ.ಮಧುವಿನ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕೋರಿಕೆಯನ್ವಯ ಅವನ ಮಗನೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅದು ಮುಂದುವರೆದು ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಹೇಳಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

ಮಧು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ.ಅವನ ಕಾಲದ ನಂತರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಕುಂಭೀನಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಅವನ ಮಗ ಲವಣಾಸುರನ ಕೈಗೆ ಅದು ಬಂತು.ಅವನು ತಂದೆಯಂತಲ್ಲ.ಮಹಾಕ್ರೂರಿ.

ನರಹಂತಕ-ಭಕ್ಷಕ.

ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡದೇ ತಿನ್ನುವ ಲೋಕಕಂಟಕ.

ಅವನಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಂಕಟಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.ಮಹಾಶೂಲ ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಗೆಲ್ಲಲಾರರು.ಅದು ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿ ವಧಿಸಬೇಕು.ಅವನಿಂದ ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಬೇಕು -ಎಂದರು.

ಅವನನ್ನು ವಧಿಸಲು ಭರತ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀರಿ ಎಂದು ರಾಮ ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನನು ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದ.

ಸಂತಸಗೊಂಡ ರಾಮ ಒಡನೆಯೇ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನನಿಗೆ ಲವಣಾಸುರನ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪಟ್ಟಾಭಿಷೇಕವನ್ನು  ತಾಯಂದಿರ; ಗುರುಜನರ; ಜನರ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಭವದಿಂದ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದ.(ಇದನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸದ,ಬಯಸದ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ ಒಲ್ಲದಮನದಿಂದ ರಾಮಾಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ.)

ಚತುರಂಗಬಲದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಋಷಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ರಾಮ ಬಳಿಕ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತೊಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಕೂರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು  ಲವಣಾಸುರನನ್ನು ಗೆಲ್ಲುವ ಗುಟ್ಟನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿ,ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅತ್ಯಮೂಲ್ಯ ದಿವ್ಯಾಸ್ತ್ರವೊಂದನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ  ಹರಸಿ ಕಳಿಸಿದ.(ರಾಮ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಪಾತ್ರರಿಗೆ ನೀಡುವ ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯೆಂದರೆ ಮಡಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳ್ಳಿರಿಸಿ ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯತೋರುವುದು.)

ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ ಏಕಾಂಗಿಯಾಗಿ ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ!

ರಾಮನ ಇಂಗಿತ 

ರಾಮನೇ ಬಲ್ಲ!!

ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೀತೆ!! 

ತಪ್ಪಿದರೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ!! 

ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞನಾದ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನನೂ ಬಲ್ಲನೆಂಬುದು ನಮಗೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಮನವರಿಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

 ಸೀತೆಗಾಗಿ ಸದಾ ಮಿಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ರಾಮನ ಅಳಿಯದ ಒಲವಿನ ಎದೆಯ ತುಡಿತವನ್ನು ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ ಅರಿತಿದ್ದ!!ಎಷ್ಟಾದರೂ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಒಲವಿನ ತಮ್ಮಂದಿರು! ಒಡಲಾಳದ ಸೆಳೆತ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನನನ್ನೂ ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

'People's interaction' programme was going on each day in the period of Rama itself. 

One day Chyavana Maharshi along with hundred saints came to visit Rama. After honoring and offering them a royal hospitality, Rama prayed to the Maharshi to command him anything that he wanted from him. During the time Chyavana Maharshi explained the harassment of Lavanaasura - 

There was a monster called Madhu who was a great valiant and the devotee of the lord Shiva. He was the lover of Brahmanas, lover of humans. 

He performed penance to please Shiva for thousand years. Shiva, being pleased by his devotion, granted him a special artillery ' Shoolaayudha' . He grants the artillery with a warning that " it will be there with you until the gods and the Brahmanas are opposed. Incase you oppose them then it will be annihilated ". He handed over the artillery to Madhu  and as per his request, Shiva assured that it would be rubbed only on his son. Madhu never broke his words. After his death, the artillery was handed over to his son Lavanaasura whom Madhu had begotten from his wife Kumbheenasi. He was not like his father. He was cruel and merciless. 

Assassinator - cannibal. 

He was a trouble monger to the world who used to eat not even sparing the animals. Everyone had to suffer because of him. The Maharshi says to Rama that " none can win over Lavanaasura when he has Mahaashoola in his hand and he has to be confronted and slayed when he doesn't have that in his hand . We all need protection from him ".

When Rama asked Bharatha and Shatrughna that who would go to slay Lavanaasura, Shatrughna himself came forward. 

Rama who felt happy ,immediately fulfilled Shatrughna's coronation of the sate of Lavanaasura in the presence of the mothers ; Gurus ;and the subjects, splendidly. ( Shatrughna who did not desire and expect this ,followed the command of Rama halfheartedly).

After sending sages first along with the army comprising of four wings elephants, cavalry, chariots and infantry, Rama took Shatrughna on his lap and taught him the secret of defeating Lavanaasura and then sent him by blessing and handing over a divine artillery to him. ( The greatest love that Rama gives to his dear people is showing his affection towards them by taking them on his lap).

Shatrugna being alone ,followed the army in his chariot !

The intention of Rama

is known only by him !!

and Seetha !!

other than her , Lakshmana !!

But we will realize that the wise Shatrughna too knows about Rama.

Shatrughna knew about the fondness and the eternal longing of Rama's heart for Seetha !! After all they were the beloved Younger brothers of the elder brother ! The fascination of the inner soul was haunting even Shatrughna.
