ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೧೭೪

ಯುದ್ಧ ಯುದ್ಧ!

ಯುದ್ಧ  ರಾವಣನ ಉಸಿರು!!

ಈಗ ಮಗ ಮೇಘನಾದನೂ ಅಪ್ಪನೊಡನೆ ಸೇರಿದ!

 ನಳಕೂಬರನ ಶಾಪದೊಂದಿಗೆ ರಾವಣನು ಸ್ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಲಗ್ಗೆ ಹಾಕಲು  ಸೇನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟ.ಸ್ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವ ಸುದ್ದಿಯರಿತ ಇಂದ್ರನು ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುವಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಲೋಕದ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಮೊರೆಯಿಟ್ಟನು.ಆಗ ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುವು -ರಾವಣನ ವಧೆಗೆ ಕಾಲ ಕೂಡಿ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸದ್ಯ ನೀವೇ ಅವನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿ -ಎಂದನು.

ಇಂದ್ರನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇನಾನಿಗಳೊಡನೆ ರಾವಣನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಲು 

ಸಿದ್ಧನಾದನು.

ದೇವ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಭೀಕರವಾದ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯಿತು.ಲಂಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನಿಂದ ಸೋತು ರಸಾತಳವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದ ಸುಮಾಲಿಯು ಸಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ವಸು ಸಾವಿತ್ರನ ಗದೆಗೆ ತುತ್ತಾದ.ಸೇನಾಯಕ ಸತ್ತದುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಓಡತೊಡಗಿದ್ದ ರಕ್ಕಸರನ್ನು ಮೇಘನಾದ ತಡೆದು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ತಾನೇ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದನು.ಅವನ ಕೈಚಳಕಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಚೆಲ್ಲಾಪಿಲ್ಲಿಯಾದರು.ಆಗ ಇಂದ್ರನ ಮಗ ಜಯಂತನು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದ.ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಭಾರೀ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.

ಮೇಘನಾದನು ಮಾಯಾಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದಾಗ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಸೋಲತೊಡಗಿದರು.

ಕತ್ತಲು ಕವಿದು ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಯಾರು ಎಂಬುದೇ ಕಾಣದಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಹೊಡೆದಾಡ ತೊಡಗಿದರು. 

ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಯಂತನ ತಾಯಿ ಶಚಿಯ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೈತ್ಯ ಪುಲೋಮನು ತನ್ನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗ ಜಯಂತನನ್ನೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಾಗರಗರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದನು. ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಹೆದರಿಕೆ ಗೊಂದಲಗಳಿಂದ ರಣರಂಗದಿಂದ ಓಡತೊಡಗಿದರು.

ಆಗ ಸ್ವತಃ ಇಂದ್ರನೇ ಮಾತಲಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾರಥಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿ ಯುದ್ಧಾರಂಭ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಇಂದ್ರ-ರಾವಣರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಘೋರ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯಿತು.ಇಂದ್ರನ ಕೈಮೇಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಮೇಘನಾದನೇ ಇಂದ್ರನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಿದನು.ರಕ್ಕಸರನೇಕರು ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.ದೇವತೆಗಳೂ ಒಮ್ಮೆ  ಸತ್ತರು. ಮೇಘನಾದನು ಶಿವನಿತ್ತ ಮಹಾಮಾಯಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಿ ಇಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ದಿಙ್ಮೂಢನನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿ ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ತಂದೆ ರಾವಣನಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆತಂದನು. ರಾವಣನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಂತೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಗೆದ್ದ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಯುದ್ಧ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ಬಂಧಿತ ಇಂದ್ರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಲಂಕೆಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

ಇಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಬಂಧಮುಕ್ತನನ್ನಾಗಿಸಲು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಲಂಕೆಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

ರಾವಣ ಮತ್ತು ಮೇಘನಾದನ ಸಾಹಸವನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು  ಇಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗ ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ 'ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತ್' ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧನಾಗುವನೆಂದು ಹೊಗಳಿದ.  ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು- ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬೇಕಾದ್ದನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು ಇಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡು-ಎಂದು  ರಾವಣನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ. ಆಗ ರಾವಣನು ಅಮರತ್ವವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಾವು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು  ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿದ. 

ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತು ವು-•ಯುದ್ಧ ಗೈಯಲು ಹೋಗುವ ಮೊದಲು ನಾನು ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರತಿ ಯಜ್ಞದಿಂದ ಹೊಸ ಸುರಥವೊಂದು ಮೂಡಿ ಬರಲಿ.

•ಒಂದೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಾನು ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಧ ದಲ್ಲೇ  ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ನನ್ನ ವಿನಾಶವಾಗಲಿ.

•ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಿ ದೊರಕುವ ಅಮರತ್ವ ನನಗೆ ಬೇಡ.ನನಗೆ ನನ್ನ  ಪರಾಕ್ರಮದ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಮರತ್ವ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಸಲಿ-ಎಂದು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು ತಥಾಸ್ತು ಎಂದನು. 

ಇಂದ್ರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ.ತುಂಬಾ ಕಳಾಹೀನಾಗಿದ್ದ.ಆಗ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನು ಅವನಿಗೆ  ಅಹಲ್ಯೆಯ ಪ್ರಕರಣವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿ ಗೌತಮ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಯ ಶಾಪವೇ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದನು.ಇಂದ್ರನಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡಲು  ಹೇಳಿದ.

ಜಯಂತನು ತನ್ನ ಅಜ್ಜನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ. 

ಇಂದ್ರನು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸಿ ಯಾಗ ನಡೆಸಿ ದೇವತೆಗಳೊಡನೆ ಸಗ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿದನು.

 

ಹೀಗೆ ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯರು ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತುವಿನ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಲು ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಿಭೀಷಣನೂ ಅಚ್ಚರಿಗೊಂಡನು.

ಜೈತ್ರಯಾತ್ರೆಯೋ ?

ಪತನ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯೋ!??

ಅಪ್ಪ ರಾವಣ ಶಾಪ ಪಡೆದ!

ಮಗ ಇಂದ್ರಜಿತು ತನ್ನ ಸಾವಿನ ಸುಳಿವನ್ನು ವೈರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಟ್ಟ!

ಅತಿಯಾದರೆ ಅಮೃತವೂ ವಿಷ!!

War war !

War was the life of Ravana !!

Now the Meghanaada too joined his father !

Being cursed by Nalakoobara, Ravana set off to leap into the heaven along with his army. Indra who came to know about Ravana's arrival to the heaven ,prayed to the lord Mahaavishnu for the protection of Devaloka ( the heaven). During the time the lord Vishnu said that the right time had not yet come to slay Ravana and told him to confront Ravana for time being. 

Indra got equipped to face Ravana along with his soldiers. 

A terrifying battle took place between the gods and the monsters. Sumaali who was defeated by Mahaavishnu and who saved himself by hiding in the subterranean world, died by being hit by Vasu Saavitra with his club in the heaven. The monsters who saw the chief commander dead began to run. But Meghanaada stopped them and he himself got involved in the battle. The gods got scattered because of the dexterity of Meghanaada. During the time the son of Indra, Jayantha got involved in the war.

Both fought terrifically. 

When Meghanaada began fighting through illusion the gods began to get defeated. 

The darkness enveloped, being unable to recognize each other, they began to fight with one another. 

During this time, the giant Puloma ,the father of Jayantha's mother Shachi ,went into the heart of the sea by carrying his grandson Jayantha. The gods began to run away from the battlefield being scared and chaos. 

During the time Indra himself began the war by making Maathali as his charioteer. 

The terrific war took place between Indra and Ravana. When Indra was seen getting the upper hand in the battle, Meghanaada himself faced Indra . So many monsters were slayed by the gods. The gods too died once. Meghanaada stunned Indra by trying out the artillery Mahaamaaya on him, which was granted by the lord Shiva. Meghanaada took Indra to the father Ravana in the chariot by imprisoning him. As per the command of Ravana the monsters stopped the battle who won the war. They came to Lanka along with captivated Indra.

The gods came to Lanka under the initiation of Brahma to emancipate Indra from the imprisonment. Brahma who praised the adventures of Ravana and Meghanaada said that the son of Ravana who won Indra would be known as Indrajith from then on . Brahma told Ravana to take whatever he wished from the gods and to emancipate Indra. During the time Ravana asked for immortality. But Brahma denied to grant the wish of Ravana by stating that 'death is confirmed after the birth' .

Indrajith who interfered asks Brahma-

• 'Let new and the finest chariots appear from every sacrificial ritual that I perform before going into the war.

• I should be annihilated only if I go to the war by leaving the sacrificial ritual incomplete. 

• I deny the immortality which comes through penance. Let the immortality be achieved only through my valor. - When Indrajith asked this Brahma too agreed and granted what he had asked. 

Indra got emancipated. He had become too pale. During the time Brahma reminded Indra of the incident of Ahalya and said that the curse of Gauthama Maharshi itself was the reason for the situation he was in . He told Indra to perform religious ritual 'Vaishnava Yaga'.

He let Indra know that Jayantha was safe with his grandfather. 

By following the command of Brahma, Indra performed the religious ritual and then returned to the heaven along with the gods. 

Rama, Lakshmana and Vibhishana wondered and got surprised when Agasthya narrated the background story of Indrajith's fame.

Is this the journey of expedition ?

Or the journey of the downfall ! ??

The father Ravana got cursed !

The son Indrajith disclosed the hint of his death to the enemies !

Too much is too bad !!
