ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೧೭೨

ಭೂಲೋಕದ ನರರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುವ -ಶೋಷಿಸುವ- ಕೊಲ್ಲುವ -ರಾವಣನ ದುಷ್ಕಾರ್ಯ ಎಗ್ಗಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯಿತು.ಹೀಗೇ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಆಕಾಶಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾರದರು ಎದುರಾದರು.ನಾರದರಿಗೆ ಮಣಿಯದವರುಂಟೇ? ರಾವಣನೂ ಮಣಿದ.

ನಾರದರು ರಾವಣನ ವಿಜಯಯಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಒಂದು ಸಲಹೆಯನ್ನು ರಾವಣನ ಮುಂದಿಟ್ಟರು. - ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ತಾಪತ್ರಯಗಳಿಂದ ನೊಂದು ಬೆಂದು ನರಳಿ ಸಾಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ನರರನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ನೀನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಡ.ಅವರಾಗಿಯೇ ಸಾಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೀನು  ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದೇಕೆ?ಅದರ ಬದಲು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಕತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿಜವಾದರೆ,ನಿಜವಾದ ತಾಕತ್ತಿರುವವ ನೀನಾದರೆ, ಯಮನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸು- ಎಂಬುದೇ ಆ ಸಲಹೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ನಾರದರು ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನರರ ಹಿತವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುವ ಈ ಸವಾಲು ರೂಪದ ಸಲಹೆಯನ್ನಿತ್ತರು.

ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣವೇ ರಾವಣನು ಆ ಸವಾಲನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ ಯಮನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಲು ರಸಾತಳದತ್ತ ಪಯಣಿಸಿದ. ಅವನಿಗಿಂತ ಮೊದಲೇ ನಾರದರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ರಾವಣನು ಆಕ್ರಮಿಸಲಿರುವ ಸೂಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಯಮನಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.ಬಳಿಕ ಯಮ-ರಾವಣರ 

ಮಧ್ಯೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಕುತೂಹಲದಿಂದ ಕಾದು ಕುಳಿತರು.

ರಾವಣ ಬಂದ.ಪ್ರತಿಭಟಿಸಿದ ಯಮದೂತರಿಗೆ ಯಮನಾದ!

ಯಮಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡತೊಡಗಿದ.ಆಗ ಸಿಟ್ಟುಗೊಂಡ ಯಮನು ತನ್ನ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಬಂದ ರಾವಣನನ್ನು  ಎದುರಿಸಲು ತಾನೇ  ಬಂದ.ಸರಿಸಮವಾದ ಕದನ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಸಿಟ್ಟಿಗೆದ್ದ ಯಮನು ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲು ಕಾಲದಂಡವನ್ನೆತ್ತಿದಾಗ ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನೇ ಬಂದು ತಡೆದ.ರಾವಣನ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕೋಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಇತರ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಸಾವಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಬಹುದಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲದಂಡ ಪ್ರಯೋಗವನ್ನು ತಡೆದು ತಾನು ಆತನಿಗಿತ್ತ ವರವನ್ನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಸುವಂತೆ(ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾವಿಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದು)ಹೇಳಿದ. ಯಮನೊಪ್ಪಿ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ ಮಾತನ್ನುಳಿಸಲು ರಣರಂಗದಿಂದ ಮಾಯವಾದನು.ಅದು ತನ್ನ  ಗೆಲುವೆಂದೇ ರಾವಣ ಬಗೆದನು.

ಗೆದ್ದೆನೆಂದುಕೊಂಡ ರಾವಣನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ  ನಿವಾತಕವಚರಿರುವಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಸಮಬಲದ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಬಳಿಕ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ  ಗೆಳೆತನವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.

ಮುಂದೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಆಶ್ಮ ಎಂಬ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ  ಕಾಲಕೇಯರಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ದಂಡೆತ್ತಿ ಹೋದನು.ಅಲ್ಲಿ  ಅವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದ ತಂಗಿ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯ  ಗಂಡ ವಿದ್ಯುಜ್ಜಿಹ್ವನನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದ!

ಮುಂದೆ  ವರುಣನ ಅರಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದ.ಆಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಎದುರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಾಮಧೇನು ಸುರಭಿಯನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿದ.ಇದು ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೆಲಸ.(ರಾವಣ ಗೋಪೂಜಕ,ಗೋಮಾಂಸ ಭಕ್ಷಕನಲ್ಲ!)

ವರುಣನ ಅನುಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಬಂದ ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿದ.

ಈ ದಂಡಯಾತ್ರೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ  ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ದೇವ-ದಾನವ- ಯಕ್ಷ - ನಾಗಕನ್ಯೆಯರನ್ನು ಅನಾಥರನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿದ.  ಅವರ ಇಚ್ಛೆಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು,  ಪುಷ್ಪಕ ವಿಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಂಕೆಗೆ  ತಂದು ಕೂಡಿ ಹಾಕಿದ.

Ravana's evil act of torturing, dominating and slaying the humans on the earth continued without any limitations. Once, while he was going in the sky Narada came across. Is there anyone who doesn't surrender to Narada ?

Ravana too surrendered. 

Narada congratulated Ravana on his journey of victory and he gave him a piece of advice. Narada says -

" Do not kill the mortals again by torturing them,who have been already dying from lamenting, struggling and from many obstacles. Why should they be killed when they are dying themselves ? Instead of killing them ,if you truly have courage, if you are truly a courageous one then face Yama ( the god of death) ". - Narada gave this advice to Ravana. 

Narada who wished for the welfare of the mortals gave him the challenged form of advice. 

The very next moment, by accepting the challenge Ravana travelled towards the subterranean region to face Yama. But Narada went there even before Ravana arrived there and informed Yama that Ravana was about to attack. Later he kept waiting to witness the battle which was to take place between Ravana and Yama with curiosity. 

Ravana arrived. He himself became Yama to Yamadoothas (messengers of Yama) who protested against him ! He began to release those who were being punished in the world of Yama which angered Yama. Yama himself came to confront Ravana who hindered his duty. The equal fight took place. At last ,when the outrageous Yama lifted ' Kaaladanda' ( artillery) to slay Ravana, the lord Brahma presented himself there and prevented Yama . He prevented Yama from trying out ' Kaaladanda ' due to his anger on Ravana ,which could have been the reason for the deaths of so many living creatures. And he told Yama about the boon that he had given to Ravana and asked Yama to turn that boon true ( No death from the gods). Yama agreed for what Brahma had said and he disappeared from the battlefield to keep the words of Brahma. But Ravana assumed that it was his victory. 

From there, Ravana who assumed that he had won ,went to the place where Nivaathakavacha was residing. After the battle of equal force Ravana made friendship with him. From there he marched with his force to the city called Ashma where Kaalakeya was residing. He killed Kaalakeya and Vidhyajjihwa the husband of his sister Shoorpanakha !

After that he went to the palace of Varuna . Seeing Kaamadhenu Surabhi there he worshipped her. This was the only one good deed that was done by Ravana. ( Ravana was a worshipper of cow ,not a eater of cow meat). He defeated the children of Varuna who had come to battle in the absence of Varuna. During the time of that expedition he made Gods - Monsters - Yaksha - Serpent maidens who were there everywhere, orphans . He captivated them against their will and wish ,brought them to Lanka in 'Pushpaka Vimaana ' and imprisoned them.
