 ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯನಮ:

ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೮೪

"ಸತ್ಕುಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ,

 ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿಯ ಮಗ,

ಧರ್ಮವೇ ಮೂರ್ತಿವೆತ್ತಂತಿರುವ,

ಅನೇಕ ವ್ರತಾಚರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದವ,

ಕರುಣಾಮಯ,

ರಾಜರುಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸದ್ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವ,

ಧೀರ ಶೂರ ನೇರಾನೇರ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದ ಮಾಡುವವ....ರಾಮ.." ಎಂದು ನಂಬಿ ಬಂದು ತಮ್ಮನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಈ ರೀತಿ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ,

ರಣನೀತಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ

 ಮರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಬಾಣ ಪ್ರಯೋಗ ಮಾಡಿ 

ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದು ಸರಿಯೇ? ಎಂದು ವಾಲಿಯು ರಾಮನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದನು.

ಆಗ ರಾಮನು-

ಧರ್ಮದ ರಹಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆರೋಪ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀಯಾ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಲು-

ಈ ಭೂಮಂಡಲವು ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕು ವಂಶದವರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದು.

ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮನಾದ ಭರತನು ಈಗ ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ಧರ್ಮೋದ್ಧಾರದ ಆದೇಶ ಪಡೆದು ನಾವು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಚಂಚಲ ಚಿತ್ತನಾದ ನೀನು ಚಂಚಲರೊಡನೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಾಮವೃತ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದೀಯ.

ತಮ್ಮನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಸೊಸೆಗೆ ಸಮಾನ.ಸೊಸೆಗೆ ಸಮಾನಳಾದವಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವಳ ಗಂಡನಿದ್ದೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊರಹಾಕಿ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿಟ್ಟು ಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೀಯ.ಇದು ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಗೆ ಅರ್ಹವಾದ ತಪ್ಪು.

ಸುಗ್ರೀವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಸಖ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವ  ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೆ.

ಸುಗ್ರೀವನ ಸತಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನು ಮರಳಿ ಪಡೆಯಲು ನೆರವೀಯುವ ಮಾತನ್ನಿತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.

ನೀನು ಶಾಖಾಮೃಗ.ಮೃಗವನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲು ಇಂತಹುದೇ ಕ್ರಮ ಎಂದಿಲ್ಲ- ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ನೆಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಾಣ ಪ್ರಯೋಗ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದನು.

ವಾಲಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ತಪ್ಪಿನ ಅರಿವಾಯಿತು.ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಪಡುತ್ತಾ ತಾರೆ ಅಂಗದರ ಯೋಗ ಕ್ಷೇಮದ ಹೊಣೆಯನ್ನು ರಾಮನಿಗೇ ವಹಿಸಿದನು.

ರಾಮನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅವರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ತಾರೆ ಅಂಗದರು ಬಹಳ ಶೋಕಿಸಿದರು.ತಾರೆಯು ಪ್ರಾಣತ್ಯಾಗದ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಹನುಮಂತನು ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದಂತೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಹೇಳಿ ಅಂಗದನೊಂದಿಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಬಳಿಕ ವಾಲಿಯು ಸುಗ್ರೀವನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಷಮಿಸೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಅಂಗದ ತಾರೆಯರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಹೊಣೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗಿತ್ತನು.

ವಾಲಿ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ.

ಸುಗ್ರೀವ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ.

ವಾಲಿ ಅಸುನೀಗಿದ.

ಕಿಷ್ಕಿಂದೆ ರೋದನಾ ನಗರವಾಯಿತು.

Vaali who was at the verge of his death told Rama that he had come ther to battle with his younger brother by assuming that Rama would not do injustice since he was born in the virtuous clan,

The son of an emperor ,

Who appeared as if righteousness had taken the life.

Who had performed many rituals and observances, 

Who was so kind, 

Who possessed all the good attributes of kings. 

Who was so valiant, audacious.

 Who had fought and would fight face to face . 

After all this he questioned Rama if it was right to kill him through arrows by hiding which was against the ethics of the war. 

During the time Rama said that-

 Vaali was accusing him without the knowledge of the mystery of the righteousness  and Rama justified his deed by stating that,the entire land that they were in ,belonged to the clan of Ikshvaku . Further he said that the land was being ruled by the virtuous man Bharatha  and they had come there with the command of uplifting righteousness.  Rama said to Vaali who was fickle minded that ,he had become lustful by being surrounded with fickle minded people. He preached Vaali that the wife of a younger brother should be treated equal to a daughter in law. But Vaali wished to have an illegal relationship with a woman who was equal to a daughter in law by throwing her husband out. And he deserved the capital punishment for the deed he had done. Further Rama said that during the time, he and Sugreeva became good friends, he had promised Sugreeva that he would slay Vaali and would help in getting his wife back. Rama explained, there was no particular rule to kill Vaali since he was an animal( Shaakha Mrugha which means an animal which jumps from tree to tree)and keeping that in mind he had unleashed  the arrow. 

Vaali realized his mistake. With repentance,  he gave the responsibility of Tara and Angada to Rama. Rama assured him of their safety. Tara and Angada lamented for Vaali. When Tara decided to kill herself out of grief, Hanuman consoled her and made her to stay with Angada. 

Later, Vaali asked the forgiveness of Sugreeva and gave him the responsibility of Tara and Angada .

Vaali became the elder brother. 

Sugreeva became the younger brother. 

Vaali was no more. 

Kishkinda drowned in the flood of grief and tears.
