ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೮೧

"ವಾಲೀ ನಾಮ ಮಮ ಭ್ರಾತಾ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠ: ಶತ್ರುನಿಷೂದನ:..." ವಾಲೀ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧನಾದ ನನ್ನಣ್ಣ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಸುಗ್ರೀವನು ತನ್ನ ನೋವಿನ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ-

ಮಾಯಾವಿ ಎಂಬ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನಿಗೂ ನನ್ನಣ್ಣನಿಗೂ ಹೆಂಗಸೊಬ್ಬಳ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಜಗಳವುಂಟಾಯಿತು.ಒಂದು ನಡುವಿರುಳು ಅವನು ಬಂದು ಬೊಬ್ಬಿರಿದು ಅಣ್ಣನನ್ನು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದನು.ರಕ್ಕಸರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇರುಳು ಕದನ ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೇಳಿದರೂ ಕೇಳದೆ ಅವನು ಮಾಯಾವಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟಿದನು.ನಾನೂ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದೆ.ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ದೂರ ಹೋದ ಬಳಿಕ ಅವನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬಿಲವೊಂದನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕನು.ಅಣ್ಣನು ನಾನು ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆಂದರೂ ಬಿಡದೆ;ನಾನು ಬರುವ ತನಕ ನೀನಿಲ್ಲೇ ಕಾವಲಿರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಒಳ ಹೊಕ್ಕನು.ದಿನ ವಾರ ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳು ಕಳೆದರೂ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಸುಳಿವಿಲ್ಲ! ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷ ಕಾದೆ.ಆಗ ರಕ್ಕಸನ ಆರ್ಭಟೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ನೊರೆ ಸಹಿತವಾದ ರಕ್ತವು ಬಿಲದಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿತು.ಕರೆದರೂ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಉತ್ತರವಿಲ್ಲ.ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತನೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಕಸನು ಹೊರಬರದಂತೆ ಬಿಲವನ್ನು ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಗೆ ಬಂದೆ.ತರ್ಪಣಾದಿ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದೆ.ಸಚಿವರುಗಳು ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳು ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿದು ನಾನು ಪಟ್ಟವೇರುವಂತೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.ಒಲ್ಲದ ಮನದಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯವಾಳತೊಡಗಿದೆ.

ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅಣ್ಣ ಬಂದನು.ಅವನು ಬಂದುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸಂತಸಗೊಂಡು ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಈ ಹಿಂದಿನಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನಾಗಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದೆನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಿಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು.ನಾನು ಅಸಹಾಯಕನಾಗಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿ ಬಂತೆಂದು ಪರಿಪರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೂ ಕೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.ಸಚಿವರ ಮಾತನ್ನೂ ನಂಬಲಿಲ್ಲ.ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ರಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗಟ್ಟಿದನು.ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ನಿಷಿದ್ಧವಾದ ಈ ಋಷ್ಯಮೂಕ ಪರ್ವತದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ವರು ಅನುಚರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾನಿದ್ದೇನೆ.ಕಳಕೊಂಡ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಪಡೆಯುವಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ನೆರವಾಗಬೇಕು- ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಸುಗ್ರೀವನು ರಾಮನನ್ನು ದೀನನಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದನು.ರಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಸುಗ್ರೀವನಿಗೆ ಅಭಯ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

"Vaali naama mama Bhratha Jyeshta, shatrunishoodana..." which means, 

His brother who was well well-known as Vaali was ruling all of them - In this way Sugreeva began narrating his pathetic story to Rama --

A conflict began between a monster called Maayavi and his brother Vaali because of a woman. One day he came screaming in the mid of the night and invited his brother for a battle. Though Sugreeva and others advised Vaali not to go for the battle with monsters in the night, he went chasing Maayaavi. Sugreeva too followed his brother Vaali. After going so far in the forest, he entered into a big burrow. When Vaali was about to enter the burrow,Sugreeva told Vaali that he would come along with him. But Vaali did not allow Sugreeva to come with him and told him to wait there itself until he returned. Days ,week, and months passed but there was no sign of Vaali ! Sugreeva waited there for a year. One day Sugreeva heard the scream of the monster from the burrow and he saw blood flowing from the burrow. Sugreeva called his brother but there was no answer or response from his brother.  At last he thought that his brother was no more. So he closed the burrow safely so that the monster should not come out of the burrow. After that Vaali returned to his capital. He performed the last rites of Vaali. The ministers and subjects who came to know that Vaali was no more ,compelled Sugreeva to ascend the throne. Sugreeva began reigning the kingdom though it was against his will.

But one day ,his brother Vaali returned. Sugreeva was happy to see his brother back and told him that he would give his kingdom back to him and would remain as his servant as he was earlier. But Vaali was angry on Sugreeva. He explained Vaali that he was in a helpless condition so he had to do that but still Vaali was not convinced. He did not even believe the words of the ministers. Vaali threw Sugreeva out of the kingdom and captivated his wife. Ever since then Sugreeva, along with his 4 followers, was residing in the Rushyamooka hill which was prohibited for Vaali. Sugreeva looked at Rama with humility and requested him to help in getting his wife back. Rama reminded him his promise and gave him assurances.
