ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೭೬

ಅರಣ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಮೃಗಗಳು ತೋರಿದ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕತೊಡಗಿದರು.ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಮುರಿದು ಬಿದ್ದ ರಥದ ಅವಶೇಷಗಳು,

ಮಡಿದು ಬಿದ್ದ ಸಾರಥಿ, ನೆಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿರುವ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು, ಅವುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೀತೆಯದೆನ್ನಬಹುದಾದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು ಕಂಡುಬಂದವು.ಹಾಗೆಯೇ  ಎಳೆದಾಟದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಸೀತೆಯು ಮುಡಿದ ಉದುರಿದ ಹೂಮಾಲೆ ತೊಡುಗೆಗಳೂ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದವು.ಯಾವನೋ ಒಬ್ಬ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನು ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಎಳೆದೊಯ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸೋದರರು ಬಂದರು.

ಯಾರು! ಏನು? ಎತ್ತ? ಹೇಗೆ ?ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತೂ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋದಾಗ  ಸಾವಿನಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪರ್ವತಾಕಾರದ ಜಟಾಯುವು ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು.'ಇವನು ಜಟಾಯುವಲ್ಲ.ಛದ್ಮವೇಶದ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ. ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಇವನು ಕೊಂದು ತಿಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ.ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುತ್ತೇನೆ'ಎಂಬ ತಪ್ಪು ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮನು ಜಟಾಯುವಿನತ್ತ ಧಾವಿಸಿದನು.ಆಗ ಜಟಾಯುವು ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ತಾನು ರಾವಣನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿತು.ರಾವಣನ ಇರವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳಿತು.ಕೊನೆಗೆ ರಾಮನಲ್ಲಿ'ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ನನ್ನ ರೆಕ್ಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ರಾವಣನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ.ನೀನು ಮರಳಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಡ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿತು.ರಾಮನು ತುಂಬಾ ದು:ಖಿತನಾಗಿ ಜಟಾಯುವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಅತ್ತನು.ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೋವೇ ಗತಿಯಾಯಿತೇ ಎಂದು ಗೋಳಾಡಿದನು.

ಜಟಾಯು ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದನು.ತಂದೆ ದಶರಥನ ಸಖ ಜಟಾಯು.ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಹಿರಿಯನು ಸತ್ತಾಗ ಏನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಉತ್ತರಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೋ;  ಶವದಹನವೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಅವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿ ನದೀತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ತರ್ಪಣವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರು ಜಟಾಯುವಿಗೆ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾಂಜಲಿಯನ್ನು, ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಿನ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.

As per the suggestion of the forest scientist Lakshmana ,both Rama and he walked towards the direction indicated by the animals .As they moved on ,they saw the remnants of the chariot which was broken down, the footprints of the monsters and along with those footprints, there were also the footprints of humans which could be said that they were the footprints of Seetha. Their eyes caught hold of the flowers which had crumbled down from Seetha's hair and clothes on the ground while she was being dragged. The brothers came to the conclusion that Seetha was taken away by a monster. 

Who ! What? Where! To find the answers to all these questions they moved forward. While moving forward they saw the magnificent Jataayu on the ground which was at the verge of the death. Seeing Jataayu Rama suspected that it was not Jataayu but a monster in a disguise  and he had consumed Seetha by killing her. Rama with a misconception rushed towards Jataayu to slay that but Jataayu explained Rama how it had fought with Raavana to save Seetha. It told him about the intention of Raavana. At last it told Rama that Raavana had already killed it by cutting its wings off and requested him not to kill that again. When Rama realized the truth, he embraced Jataayu with a painful heart and shed tears. He lamented and stated painfully that the people who trusted and possessed him were in a pathetic situation. 

Jataayu took its last breath. Jataayu was the friend of Rama's father Dasharatha. Rama and Lakshmana offered obituary and their gratitude to Jataayu through performing all the funeral rites which should be performed when the elder of the family expires including cremation . And they offered oblation on the shore of a river.
