ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು! ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು!!

ಕೈಕೇಯಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ವನವಾಸ

ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ

ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ರಕ್ಕಸರ ಸಾವು!!

ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯೂ ಮಾರೀಚನೂ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ರಾಮನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿಯೇ ರಾವಣನಿಗೆ ವರ್ಣಿಸಿದ್ದರು.ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವಿಷ್ಟೇ-

ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯು ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ರಾಮನ ಸುಂದರ ಸತಿಯನ್ನು ಎಳೆದು ತರಲು ಹೋದಾಗ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನಿಂದಾಗಿ ನನಗೀ ಗತಿ ಬಂತು ಎಂದು ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳಿದಳು. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತೀಕಾರದ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಕರೆತರಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವ  ಅಹಿತಕಾರಿಯಾದ ಸಲಹೆಯನ್ನೂ ನೀಡಿದಳು.

ಮಾರೀಚನು ಸೀತಾಪಹರಣ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿಯಾದುದು ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಾನುಭವವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ವಿವರಿಸಿದನು- ತನ್ನ ಹನ್ನೆರಡನೆಯ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲೇ  ರಾಮನು ಯಜ್ಞ ಭಂಗಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೋದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬಾಣದ ಮೂಲಕ ನೂರು ಯೋಜನದಷ್ಟು ದೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮುದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಎಸೆದಿದ್ದನು.ಹಾಗಿರುವಾಗ ಇಂದು ಅವನ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮ ಎಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿರಬಹುದು?- ಎಂದು.

 ಮಾರೀಚನ ಯಾವ ಉಪದೇಶಗಳಿಗೂ ರಾವಣ ಜಗ್ಗದೆ ನೀನು ಸೀತಾಪಹರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಯಾ ಜಿಂಕೆಯ ರೂಪ ಧರಿಸಿ ಸಹಕರಿಸಲೇ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕಟ್ಟಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಮಾರೀಚನು- ರಾಮನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ಮಾತ್ರದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಸತ್ತೆನೆಂದು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿ.ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಸೀತಾಪಹರಣದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂಧು ಬಾಂಧವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನೀನೂ ಸತ್ತೆಯೆಂದೇ ತಿಳಿ.ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಸೀತಾಪಹರಣ ಗೈದು ಲಂಕೆಗೆ ತಂದುದೇ ಆದರೆ -ನೀನೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಾರೆ; ನಾನೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಾರೆನು;ಲಂಕೆಯೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಾರದು; ರಾಕ್ಷಸರೂ ಉಳಿಯಲಾರರು.ಆಯುಷ್ಯ ಮುಗಿದು ಮರಣವು ಸನ್ನಿಹಿತವಾದಾಗ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಗೆಳೆಯರು ಹಿತವಚನಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪುವುದಿಲ್ಲ - ಎಂದನು.

ರಾಜಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯು ಸೀತಾಪಹರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರೆ,ಅದೇ ರಾಜಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಸೀತಾಪಹರಣ ಸರ್ವನಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾದೀತು ಎಂದು ಮಾರೀಚನು ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದನು.

Fourteen! Fourteen..

Fourteen years of exile for Rama because of Kaikeyee. 

The death of 14,000 monsters because of Shoorpanakha!!.

Both Shoorpanakha and Maaricha equally described the valor and personality of Rama to Raavana.  The difference is - Shoorpanakha spun a false story to Raavana that when she went to bring Seetha the beautiful wife of Rama for Ravana ,Lakshmana cut her nose and ears of her and made her life miserable.  And she gave him an evil suggestion of abducting Seetha as a revenge. But  Maaricha explained Raavana about the consequences of his action with his own experience and told him how dangerous the abduction of Seetha would be. He recounted Raavana his own story of defeat. He told Raavana that when he had gone to spoil the sacrificial ritual, Rama had thrown him through his arrows to the ocean which was 100 yojanas away ( one Yojana =9 miles so 100 yojanas = 100×9 =900 miles). Further he added that When Rama defeated Maaricha he was just 12 years old and how mighty he might be now. But even after explaining everything, Raavana did not change his mind and ignored the advise of Maaricha . He commanded and compelled Maaricha to help him in abducting Seetha by disguising himself as a magical deer. Maaricha, after being ordered, told him to assume Maaricha as dead the moment he was seen by Rama . He said to Raavana to invite his own death and also the deaths of his family and relatives along with the abduction of Seetha. Further Maaricha stated that in case Raavana succeeded in taking away Seetha to Lanka with his help then Raavana would not Survive, he( Maaricha) would not survive and even the monsters would not survive. While advising Raavana he states that " The people, usually friends do not agree to the good advice when the life span comes to an end and when death approaches ".

Shoorpanakha compelled Raavana to abduct Seetha by preaching him the duties of a king and Maaricha preached him the same duties of a king and warned him that the abduction of Seetha could be the reason for the downfall. 

" Vinaashakaale Vipareetha Buddhi".

When the doom approaches, man does the things which should not be done.
