ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೬೬

ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಬಾಣದಂತೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿ ಏಕಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ಬಿಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೂಡಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟ ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ರಕ್ಕಸರು ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರೇ ಸತ್ತು ಬಿದ್ದರು.ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಹೆದರಿದ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಖರನ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದು ಪ್ರಲಾಪಿಸತೊಡಗಿದಳು.ಖರನು-ಇವಳು ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಅನರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಲೆಂದೇ ಪುನಃ ಬಂದಳೇ!?(ಈ ಮಾತು ನಿಜವಾಯಿತು)-ಎಂದು ಮನದಲ್ಲೇ ಸಿಟ್ಟಿಗೆದ್ದು ಯಾಕೆ ಬಂದೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.ಅವಳು ನಡೆದ ಮಾರಣಹೋಮವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಚುಚ್ಚುವ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಚುಚ್ಚಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.

ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ಉಪದೇಶಿಸಿದ ಅಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು, ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯರು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಬಿಲ್ಲು ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವ ಕಾಲ ಎಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗನೇ ಬಂತು!!

ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ರಕ್ಕಸವೀರರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಖರ ದೂಷಣ ತ್ರಿಶಿರರು ರಾಮನ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.ಬಹಳ ದೂರದಿಂದಲೇ ಕೇಳಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಣೋತ್ಸಾಹದ ಶಬ್ದಗಳಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚೆತ್ತ ರಾಮನು ತಮ್ಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನೊಡನೆ ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ದಟ್ಟ ಕಾಡಿನ ನಡುವೆ ಇರುವ ಗುಹೆಯೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಕಳಿಸಿದನು.ಯುದ್ಧದ ವೇಳೆ ತನ್ನ ರೌದ್ರ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಸೀತೆಯು ನೋಡಿ ಹೆದರದಿರಲಿ ಎಂಬುದು ರಾಮನ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು.ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಇದೇ ಮೊದಲಬಾರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಸತ್ವ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿನೋಡೋಣವೆಂದೆನಿಸಿತೋ ಏನೋ!

ಖರನಿಗೆ ಮೇಲಿಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಪಶಕುನಗಳು ಕಂಡವು.ಆದರೂ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೇ ಮುನ್ನಡೆದನು.ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಶುಭಶಕುನಗಳು ಕಂಡವು.ಮುಂದೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಭೀಕರ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಋಷಿಗಳು ಸೇರಿ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಶುಭ ಕೋರಿದರು.

ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಋಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಂಟಕಪ್ರಾಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಈ ರಕ್ಕಸರ ನಾಶವಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.

ಯುದ್ಧ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು.

ಮೊದಲ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಿಂದ ಮುಗಿಬಿದ್ದ ಖರನ ಕಡೆಯ ರಕ್ಕಸರನ್ನು ಚಕ್ರಾಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಾ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆಯುತ್ತಾ ರಾಮನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದನು.ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇನಾನಾಯಕ ದೂಷಣನೂ ಸೇರಿದ್ದನು.ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮನು ಗಂಧರ್ವಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಿದ್ದನು.

ಎರಡನೆಯ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ರಿಶಿರನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಾಳಿಯಿಟ್ಟಾಗ ತ್ರಿಶಿರನನ್ನೂ ಅವನೊಡನೆ ಬಂದ ರಕ್ಕಸರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದನು.ಅಳಿದುಳಿದವರು ಬದುಕಿಯುಳಿದರೆ ಬೇಡಿ ತಿಂದೇವೆಂದು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.

ಮೂರನೆಯ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾಪರಾಕ್ರಮಿಯಾದ ಖರನು ತನ್ನ ಉಳಿದ ರಕ್ಕಸರೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಾಳಿಯಿಡಲು ಬಂದನು.ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯುದ್ಧಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮನು ಬರಿ ನೆಲದಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತು ರಥಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎದುರಾಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿದನು.ರಾಮನ ಬಿಲ್ಲು ಒಂದು ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಡಾಗಿ ಬಿತ್ತು.ಆಗ ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯರು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಮಹಾಧನುಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಕೈಗೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಏಕಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವಾರು ದಿವ್ಯ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೂಡಿ ಖರನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದನು.

ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಖರನು ತನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತು ನಿಜವಾಯಿತು.ಜನಸ್ಥಾನ ನಿರ್ಜನವಾಯಿತು.ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿಗೋ ಓಡಿದ ಕೆಲವೇ ಕೆಲವು ರಕ್ಕಸರು ಮತ್ತು ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯೊಬ್ಬಳು ಉಳಿದರು.

ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ರಕ್ಕಸವೀರರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲು ರಾಮನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಹೊತ್ತಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕಿ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳು-"ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಒಂದೂವರೆ ಮುಹೂರ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ (೭೨ ನಿಮಿಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ) ಖರ ದೂಷಣ ತ್ರಿಶಿರರೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು"- ಎಂದು.

ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಸಂತಸದಿಂದ ಹೂಮಳೆಗರೆದರು.

ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆಗುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೀತೆಯೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದಳು.ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಆಲಂಗಿಸಿ ಆಶ್ರಮದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದಳು.

Rama counted and aimed the each arrow at 14 monsters and killed them all simultaneously. The 14 monsters were slayed by Rama and fell dead on the ground right in front of the eyes of Shoorpanakha. She was terrified by the incident and came running back to her brother Khara and reported everything that had happened in Panchavati.  Khara was outraged by the arrival of Shoorpanakha and interrogated himself if she had come to disgrace the clan of monsters. ( This statement of Khara proved true.) He asked her angrily why she had come there again. She explained him how Rama had annihilated the 14 monsters that Khara had sent .She pricked and provoked Khara through her words and persuaded him to go for a battle with Rama. 

How quickly the time had arrived to use the artillery which were preached by Vishwamitra and the arrows and bows which were given by Agasthya !!

Khara Dhooshana, Thrishira along with 14,000 demons went to attack Rama. Rama became alert  when he heard the sounds of the arrival of vigorous monsters who were approaching his dwelling. Rama immediately, sent Seetha with Lakshmana forcefully to the cave which was in the heart of the dense forest .He sent her to the cave with an intention that she should not be frightened by the ferocious appearance of Rama during the time of the battle. At the same time, he might have thought of testing his own vigour! Bad omens appeared to Khara one after one, but still he marched forward ignoring them. On the other hand , only the good omens appeared to Rama. The gods and sages who were waiting to witness the terrifying battle which was about to begin,  blessed Rama . They blessed him to ruin the monsters who had been harassing and torturing the Brahmanas and sages. 

The battle began. 

In the first stage of the battle, Rama slayed the monsters including Dooshana who was the commander of their army through his arrows by swinging around the monsters who had surrounded him from all the directions. Rama had used the artillery 'Gandharvaastra' during the same time. 

In the second stage, Thrishira came to attack Rama along with his army. But Rama slayed Thrishira along with the monsters who had come with him. A few monsters who remained alive ran for their dear life.

In the third stage , the valiant and the mighty Khara rushed towards Rama along with a few monsters. In all the three stages of the battle Rama fought standing on the ground with his enemies who were attacking him standing in their chariots.

At one point of time,  the bow of Rama broke down and that was the time when Rama took the great Vaishnava Dhanus in his hand ,which was given to him by Agasthya. Rama killed Khara by unleashing the various finest artillery simultaneously. 

The statement which Khara had made by looking at Shoorpanakha became true. The place where people had resided in turned into a desert. Only Shoorpanakha and a few monsters who ran in different directions to save their lives, remained. 

" ShreeRama alone slayed Khara, Dhooshana, Thrishira  including 14000 monsters in one and half Muhoortham ( 72 minutes)" - this is how Valmiki Maharshi stated about the duration that Rama had taken to destroy all the monsters. 

The gods showered the flowers upon Rama ,by being pleased. 

During the same time Seetha arrived there along with Lakshmana. She embraced Rama affectionately and took him into the hermitage.
