 ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯನಮ:

ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೬೫

ತರುಣೌ ರೂಪಸಂಪನ್ನೌ ಸುಕುಮಾರೌ ಮಹಾಬಲೌ|

ಪುಣ್ಡರೀಕ  ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷೌ

ಚೀರಕೃಷ್ಣಾಜಿನಾಮ್ಬರೌ||

ತರುಣರು.ರೂಪಸಂಪತ್ತುಳ್ಳ ಸುಕುಮಾರರು.ಮಹಾಬಲರು.

ಕಮಲಾಕ್ಷರು. ನಾರುಮಡಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಜಿನಗಳನ್ನುಟ್ಟವರು.

ಫಲಮೂಲಾಶಿನೌ ದಾನ್ತೌ

ತಾಪಸೌ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಚಾರಿಣೌ|

ಪುತ್ರೌ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯಾಸ್ತಾಂ

ಭ್ರಾತರೌ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೌ||

ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆ ಗೆಣಸು,ಹಣ್ಣು ಹಂಪಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ಬದುಕುವ ಜಿತೇಂದ್ರಿಯರು.

ತಪಸ್ವಿಗಳು, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಚಾರಿಗಳಾದ  ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರೆಂಬ ಸೋದರರು ದಶರಥ ರಾಜನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಂತೆ!(ಈ ಎರಡು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ರಾಮರಕ್ಷಾ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರದಲ್ಲೂ ಇವೆ) ಇವರಲ್ಲದೆ ಅತಿಸುಂದರಿಯಾದ ಸೀತೆ ಹೆಸರಿನ ರಾಮನ ಸತಿಯೂ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದಾಳೆ- ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿ!.ತನ್ನಣ್ಣ ಖರನಲ್ಲಿ!! 

ಮೇಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಸಾಕು-

.ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರು ವನವಾಸದದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗಿದ್ದರು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು

. ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ; ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು

ತಿಳಿಯಲು.

ಪುಟ್ಟದಾಗಿ ಆದರೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಖರನೆದುರು ತೆರೆದಿಟ್ಟ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯು ಅವರಿಂದ ತನಗಾದ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಅವಮಾನಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತೀಕಾರದ ಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಬಯಸಿ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರ ನೆತ್ತರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯ ಬಯಸಿದಳು.

ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರ ಬಲವನ್ನು ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಮನಗಂಡ ಖರನು ತನ್ನ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಹಾಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ನಾಯಕರಲ್ಲಿ - ಈ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಪಂಚವಟಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನನ್ನ ತಂಗಿಯನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಿಸಿದ ತಾಪಸ ವೇಷದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಣ್ಣ ತಮ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರೊಡನಿರುವ ಹೆಂಗಸನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಬನ್ನಿ-ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.ರಾಮನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಲು ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋದವರು ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.ಶೂಲಪಾಣಿಗಳಾದ ಅವರು ರಾಮಬಾಣಗಳಿಗೆ ಸುಲಭದ ತುತ್ತಾದರು.

Tharunau, roopasampannau sukumaarau mahabalau |

Pundareeka vishaalakshau

Cheerakrishnajinaambarau ||

Which means, 

"Youths ,charming men of attractive appearances with valor and strong personality who possess the eyes resembling lotus and who have worn the skin of a deer and coarse cotton wear ".

Phalamoolashinau daantau |

Thaapasau Brahmachaarinau |

Putrau Dhasharathasyaasthaam|

Bhratharau Raama Lakshmanau ||

 

Which means, 

" The self - restrained men,who are living by consuming bulbous root ,sweet potatoes and fruits which are available in the forest.  Rama and Lakshmana are the sons of the king Dhasharatha, who are ascetics and following celibacy!. ( The above mentioned two verses are also prescribed in ' Ramarakshaa Sthothra'). Along with Rama and Lakshmana, there is also the most beautiful woman named Seetha who is the wife of Rama".

This is how Shoorpanakha described about Rama ,Lakshmana and Seetha to her brother Khara.

The above mentioned two verses are enough to discern ( understand) -

[  ] How Rama and Lakshmana were in the exile.

[  ] The shrewdness ( cleverness) of Shoorpanakha and her ability to analyze others.

She described the efficiency and credibility of Rama and Lakshmana to Khara briefly but effectively . She told Khara how she had been humiliated and ill treated by the two brothers.  She expressd her desire to take revenge on them in return of the injustice that they had done to her. She wished to drink their blood.

Khara considered the ability and valor of Rama and Lakshmana seriously and commanded his 14 vigorous monsters to rush to Panchavati to slay Rama and Lakshmana who were in the appearance of ascetics and who had insulted his sister Shoorpanakha. He commanded them to kill Seetha along with the two brothers. 

The monsters who had gone along with Shoorpanakha to confront Rama, never returned.  The monsters who were armed with spears became the victims of the arrows of Rama very easily.
