ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೬೪

ಒಂದು ದಿನ ರಾಮ ಸೀತೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರು ಪರ್ಣಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.ಆಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಛದ್ಮವೇಷದ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯು ಬಂದಳು.ಸುಂದರಾಂಗನಾದ ರಾಮನನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಕಾಮಮೋಹಿತಳಾದಳು.ಅವಳನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಲೇ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಛದ್ಮವೇಷದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇರುವ ಅವಳ ನಿಜರೂಪವೂ ಕಾಣಿಸಿತು.ಅವಳ ಕೇಳಿಕೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಪುಟ್ಟದಾಗಿ ರಾಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಬಂದ ಕಾರಣವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ.ಅವಳೂ ಸ್ವಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುತ್ತಾ ತಾನು ರಾವಣನ ತಂಗಿ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿ ಎಂದಳು.ಬಳಿಕ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಣಯ ಯಾಚನೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದಳು.ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾದರೆ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಆಗಬಹುದಾದ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳಿದಳು. ಆಮಿಷವೊಡ್ಡಿದಳು.

ರಾಮನು ತಾನು ಮದುವೆಯಾದವನೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಆಕೆಯ ಕೋರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಯವಾಗಿ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಸುಖವಾಗಿ ವಿಹರಿಸುವಂತೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಹೇಳಿ ಕೇಳಿ ಕಾಮಪೀಡಿತೆ.ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನತ್ತ ಹೋದಳು.ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು -ನಾನು ದಾಸ.ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನ ಅಡಿಯಾಳು.ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾದರೆ ನಿನಗೂ ಇದೇ ಗತಿ.ನನ್ನಣ್ಣನನ್ನೇ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಿರಿಯ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿರು.ಒಂದೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ವರಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ನನ್ನ ಅತ್ತಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಮುದುಕಿಯೆಂದು ತೊರೆಯಲೂ ಸಾಕು.ಆಗ ನೀನು ಸುಖವಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿ-ಎಂದು ಮರಳಿ ಅಣ್ಣನತ್ತ ಸಾಗಹಾಕಿದನು.ಪರಿಹಾಸವೇನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯದ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯು ಮತ್ತೆ ರಾಮನ ಬಳಿಬಂದು - ನಮ್ಮ ಮದುವೆಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾದ ಇವಳನ್ನು ಈಗಲೇ ತಿಂದು ಮುಗಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.ಬಳಿಕ ನಾವಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಹಾಯಾಗಿರುವ - ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಸೀತೆಯತ್ತ ಧಾವಿಸಿದಳು.ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡ ರಾಮನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನಲ್ಲಿ- ಈ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಿಯನ್ನು ವಿರೂಪಗೊಳಿಸು-ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಹರಿತವಾದ ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯ ಮೂಗು ಕಿವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.ನಿಜರೂಪ ಪಡೆದ ವಿಕಾರ ರೂಪದ  ಶೂರ್ಪನಖಿಯು ವಿಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ, ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ನೆತ್ತರನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಖರಾಸುರನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದಳು.

One day ,when Rama ,Seetha and Lakshmana were in their dwelling, the disguised Shoorpanakha arrived there. She was enraptured by Rama who was so attractive. But Rama could see her real appearance at the first sight itself.  As per her request, Rama introduced themselves and told her the reason for their arrival there. Shoorpanakhi too introduced herself and said that she was the younger sister of Raavana. Later she directly expressed her love and feelings towards Ramaa and compelled him to marry her. She also told him about the advantages that he would get if he would marry her. She tried to tempt him through her words. 

But Rama denied her proposal politely by saying that he was married and then pointed at Lakshmana who was there at a little distance and told her to get married to him and live happily. 

After all she was a lustful woman. She rushed towards Lakshmana ,the moment she saw him. But Lakshmana told her that he was a slave ,a servant of someone. He added that she would get nothing but she too would be a slave like him if she get married to him. He told her to get married to his brother Rama and to be the younger wife of him. Lakshmana told her that Rama might abandon Seetha , considering her as an old woman after marrying Shoorpanaka and then she would live happily with Rama. He sent her back to Rama again. 

The way Rama and Lakshmana handled Shoorpanakha was truly amusing and humorous. Shoorpanakha did not realize that she was being made fun of . Without being aware of what was happening there,she rushed back to Rama again. She furiously told Rama that she would consume Seetha who would be an impediment for her to marry Rama. She came rushing towards Seetha to attack her. The outrageous Rama caught hold of her and prevented her from going towards Seetha. He commanded Lakshmana to deform the evil woman. Lakshmana immediately cut the nose and the ears off of Shoorpanakha with the sharp sword. Shoorpanakha, who immediately turned into her real appearance began roaring loudly and crying hideously and ran to her brother Khara bleeding profusely.
