ಭರತನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇನೆ ಪರಿವಾರ ಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭರಧ್ವಾಜರ ಆಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸಮೀಪಿಸಿದನು.ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನು ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಗಲು ಹೇಳಿ ವಸಿಷ್ಠರನ್ನು ಮುಂದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದನು.ವಸಿಷ್ಠರನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಕ್ಷಣ ತಮ್ಮ ಆಸನದಿಂದ ಮೇಲೆದ್ದು ಆಶ್ರಮೋಚಿತ ಸ್ವಾಗತವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಕಂದ ಮೂಲ ಫಲಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸತ್ಕರಿಸಿದರು.ಭರತನ ಅಂತರಾಳವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರೂ ಬೇಕೆಂದೇ ಭರತನನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವಂತೆ-ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ತಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಕೇಡುಂಟು ಮಾಡಲು ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ ತಾನೇ?- ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಭರತನು ತುಂಬಾ ನೊಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.ಭರತನ ಇಚ್ಛೆಗೆ ವಸಿಷ್ಠರೂ ಧ್ವನಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿದಾಗ ಸಂತಸಗೊಂಡು ಭರತನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನೊಡನೆ ಬಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಸತ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ವಿಶೇಷ ತಪಸ್ಸಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನೀಡಿದರು.ಆ ಸತ್ಕಾರವು ಹೇಗಿತ್ತೆಂದರೆ- ನಾವಿನ್ನು ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಗೂ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಭರತನೊಡನೆ ದಂಡಕಾರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ...ಇದೇ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ- ಇದೇ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ ಸುಖ- ಎಂದು ಸೈನಿಕರೇ ಮೊದಲಾದವರು ಕೂಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಭರಧ್ವಾಜರ ಕರೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಒಂದಿರುಳಿನ ಆತಿಥ್ಯವೆಂದು ಅರಿವಾದದ್ದು ಮರುದಿನವೇ!

ಮರುದಿನ ಭರತನು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಂದಿರನ್ನು ಭರಧ್ವಾಜರಿಗೆ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸುತ್ತು ಬಂದು ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಪಡೆದು ಅವರೇ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕೂಟದತ್ತ ಪಯಣವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಿದರು.

Bharatha approached the hermitage of Bharadhwaja along with his army and entourage. He commanded his soldiers to settle at the distance. He went into the hermitage with the initiative of Vasishta Maharshi. The moment Bharadhwaja saw Vasishta, he rose from his seat and welcomed everyone cordially by offering them fruits as per the tradition of the hermitage.  Though Bharadhwaja knew the inner soul of Bharatha ,he asked deliberately if they had not come there to create any impediment for Rama and his brother. It was asked to test Bharatha, but the words of Bharadhwaja hurt him deeply. 

But Bharadhwaja felt happy and satisfied when Vasishta Maharshi spoke in favor of the wish of Bharatha. Bharatha and his family were treated respectfully .Bharadhwaja offered a  wonderful hospitality which was equivalent to the heaven, using his exceptional penancing power. The hospitality was in such a way that ,the soldiers and others who had come with Bharatha were claiming that they would neither return to Ayodhya nor would go into Dandakaaranya along with Bharatha. And stated that ,it was the heaven and it was the pleasure. As per the request of Bharadhwaja, the gods provided the hospitality and it was realized the following day that it was only for one night. 

The following day Bharatha introduced his mothers to Bharadhwaja and recieved his blessings by circumambulating him. Being guided by Bharadhwaja , Bharatha continued his journey towards Chitra Koota.
