ಅಕಂಪನನ ಸಾವಿಂದ ರಾವಣ ಕಂಪಿಸಿದ!ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ  ಪ್ರಹಸ್ತನ ಮರಣ! ಇಂದ್ರನ ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನೇ ಬಗ್ಗುಬಡಿದ ಪ್ರಹಸ್ತ ನೀಲನಂತಹ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ(?) ವಾನರವೀರನಿಂದ ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ತನ್ನಡಿಯೇ ಅದುರಿದ ಅನುಭವ.ತಾನೇ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವುದೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ.

ತನ್ನ ಸಚಿವರುಗಳನ್ನು, ಅತಿಕಾಯನನ್ನು ನಗರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿ ಸರ್ವಾಲಂಕಾರ ಭೂಷಿತನಾಗಿ,ಸರ್ವಶಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದವನಾಗಿ ರಣಾಂಗಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟನು.

ರಾವಣನ ಗತ್ತು ಗೈರತ್ತುಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ರಣಭೇರಿಗಳು ಮೊಳಗಿದವು.ಸೇನೆ ರಣರಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ತಲುಪಿತು.

 

ಗುಣಿಯು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಗುಣವನ್ನೇ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾನೆಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ  ರಾವಣನ ಕುರಿತು ರಾಮ ಉದ್ಗರಿಸಿದ-ಅಹೋ ದೀಪ್ತೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ರಾವಣೋ ರಾಕ್ಷಸೇಶ್ವರ:- ಅಬ್ಬಾ! ರಾಕ್ಷಸರಾಜ ರಾವಣೇಶ್ವರನು ಎಷ್ಟು ದೇದಿಪ್ಯಮಾನವಾದ ತೇಜಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಬೆಳಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ!'- ಈ ಮಾತು ಸಾಕು! ಗುಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ಸರವಿಲ್ಲ!ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?

ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ಎದುರಿಸಿದ ವಾನರರಾಜ ಸುಗ್ರೀವನು ಆತನ ಶಕ್ತ್ಯಾಯುಧದ ಏಟಿಗೆ ತತ್ತರಿಸಿದನು.ಅವನಂತೆಯೇಸುಷೇಣ ನಲ ಮೊದಲಾದವರೂ ರಾವಣನ ಬಾಣದೇಟಿಗೆ ನಿರುತ್ತರರಾದರು.ವಾನರರು ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಶರಣ ಬಂದರು.ರಾಮನು ತಾನೇ ರಾವಣನನ್ನೆದುರಿಸಲು ಹೊರಟಾಗ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ಅಣ್ಣನ ಅನುಮತಿ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು ತಾನೇ ಮೊದಲಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟನು.ಆಗ ರಾಮನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ - ರಾವಣನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಛಿದ್ರವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಿರು.ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲೂ ಯಾವುದೇ ಛಿದ್ರವು ಸಂಭವಿಸುವುದೋ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಿರಬೇಕು.ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ರಾವಣನು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಿ.- ಈ ಮಾತು ರಾಮನ ವೀರತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಡಿದ ಕೈಗನ್ನಡಿ!

ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ತಲಪುವ ವೇಳೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹನುಮನು ರಾವಣನನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.ಹನುಮನ ಮುಷ್ಟಿಯೇಟಿಗೆ ರಾವಣನ ಮುಷ್ಟಿಯೇಟು! ಕೊನೆಗೆ ರಾವಣನು ನೀಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸಾರಿದನು.ನೀಲನು ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ರೂಪಗಳನ್ನು ತಾಳಿ;ಮಾಯಾವಿಗೇ ಮಾಯೆಯನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುವಂತೆ ರಾವಣನ ಧ್ವಜವನ್ನೇರಿ ಕುಳಿತಾಗ ಸ್ವತ: ರಾಮನೇ ಅಚ್ಚರಿಗೊಂಡ! ಸಿಟ್ಟಿಗೆದ್ದ ರಾವಣ ಆಗ್ನೇಯಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಿ ಅವನ ಸಾಹಸಕ್ಕೆ ತಡೆಯೊಡ್ಡಿದನು.

 ಈಗ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನ ಸರದಿ. ರಾವಣ-ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಭೀಕರ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯಿತು.ರಾವಣನ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಅಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕೂ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಸ್ತ್ರವಿತ್ತು!

ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಕದನದಲ್ಲೂ!!ರಾವಣನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನನ್ನು ಮಣಿಸಲು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿತ್ತ ಶಕ್ತ್ಯಾಯುಧವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಬೇಕಾಯಿತು.ಆ ಬಾಣ  ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನ ಎದೆಗೆ ನಾಟಿತು.ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನು ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿದ್ದನು.ಅವನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಕೊಂಡು ರಥಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಎತ್ತಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸಿದ.ಆಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ! ಹಿಮಾಲಯವನ್ನೇ ಎತ್ತಲು ಹೋದವನಿಗೆ ಬರೇ ಮುಖಭಂಗ! ಆಗ ಬಿತ್ತು  ಹನುಮನ  ಏಟು! ಬಸವಳಿದ ರಾವಣನು ರಥವೇರಿ ಎಚ್ಚರದಪ್ಪಿ ಕುಳಿತನು.

ಹನುಮನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನನ್ನು ಹೂವೆತ್ತುವಂತೆ ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆತಂದನು.ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತು ಕಳೆಯಲು  ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ರಾವಣರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಸಹಜ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

Ravana was trembled by the death of Akampana ! Moreover the death of Prahastha ! Ravana felt as if his foundation itself shook when the great Prahastha who had even thrashed the army of Indra, was killed by an ordinary monkey warrior Neela. Ravana himself decided to go to the battlefield. He appointed his ministers and Athikaaya to safeguard the town and went to the battlefield being embellished and well - armed. 

The trumpets were blown complementing the pride and audacity of Ravana. 

The statement of Rama seeing Ravana was enough to say that a virtuous man always sees the virtuous attributes. Rama exclaimed when he saw Ravana in the battlefield  - ' Aho deeptho mahaathejaa Ravano rakshaseshwara !' which means 'how radiantly the king of the monster Ravana is sparkling !' - These words say how virtuous Rama was !

There is no jealousy for the Virtue ! Isn't it?

The king of the monkeys Sugreeva, who confronted Ravana first was shivered by the powerful artilleries of Ravana. As Sugreeva, Sushena ,Nala and many others became unconscious because of being hit by Ravana's arrows. The monkeys came to Rama seeking protection. When Rama himself was about to leave to confront Ravana, Lakshmana went to confront him first by taking the consent and blessings of his elder brother Rama. During the time Rama told Lakshmana to find out the loopholes which would be seen in Ravana while fighting. At the same time he asked Lakshmana to find out his own loopholes while fighting since Ravana was an extraordinarily mighty man. These words of Rama mirror his bravery !!

During the time Lakshmana reached the battlefield, Hanuman was already facing Ravana. For the clenched blow of Ravana, the clenched blow of Hanuman ! At last Ravana moved towards Neela . Rama was taken aback when Neela took various forms and climbed up the flag of Ravana which seemed as if he was teaching magic to the magician ! Ravana who became angry threw impediments to Neela's adventure by using artillery ' Aagneyaastra'.

It was Lakshmana's turn. The terrifying battle took place between Ravana and Lakshmana. Lakshmana had equal artilleries in return to the each artilleries of Ravana !

In the speech as well as in the battle !! Ravana had to use 'Shaktyayudha' which was given by Brahma to defeat Lakshmana and that arrow hit the chest of Lakshmana. Lakshmana fell to the ground. Ravana tried to lift him and to carry him inside the chariot.  But he could not ! Disgrace to Ravana who had gone to lift the Himalayas !  Ravana got hit by Hanuman at the same time . Ravana who was given a hard blow , lost sense and sat unconscious in the chariot. 

Hanuman lifted Lakshmana as if he was lifting a flower and took him to Rama. After a few minutes both Ravana and Lakshmana got back to their normal senses.
