 ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯನಮ:

ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೩೫

"ತ್ರಿಜಟ ಗಾಥಾ"

ತ್ರಿಜಟನೆಂಬ ವೃದ್ಧವಿಪ್ರ ಬಡವನಿದ್ದನು|

ತರುಣಿ ಪತ್ನಿ ಒಡಲು ತುಂಬ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿದ್ದರು||

ಉಂಛವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಡು ಮೇಡು ತಿರುಗುವಾತನಿಗೆ|

ಕೊಡಲಿ ಕೊಕ್ಕೆ ಗುದ್ದಲಿಗಳೇ

ನಿಜದ ಐಸಿರಿ||

ರಾಮ ಗೈವ ದಾನ ವಿಷಯ ಕೇಳಿ ಸತಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಪತಿಗೆ|

ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ ಕೊಡುವನವನು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ||

ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳ ತೇಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಗುತಿರುವ ಬಡವ ತ್ರಿಜಟ|

ಚಿಂದಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ತೊಟ್ಟು- ಹೊದೆದುಕೊಂಡು  ಬಂದನು||

 ರಾಮನರಮನೆಯನು ತಲುಪಿ ರಾಮನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದನು|

ಬಡವನೆನ್ನ ಬಡತನವನು ನೀಗು ಎಂದನು||

ಹಾಸ್ಯಕಾಗಿ ರಾಮನೆಂದ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಹವು ದನಗಳೆನಿತೋ|

ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯ ದಂಡವನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ತನಕ ಎಸೆವೆ ನೀನು|

ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತನಕವಿರುವ ಗೋವ ನಿನಗೆ ನೀಡುವೆ||

ಎನಲು ವೃದ್ಧ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಸೊಂಟಕಾಗ ಗಟ್ಟಿ ಬಿಗಿದು|

ದಂಡವನ್ನು ಗರಗರನೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸೆಸೆದನು||

ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮೀರಿ ಎಸೆದ ದಂಡ ಸರಯೂ ನದಿಯ ದಾಟಿ ಆಚೆ|

ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಗೋವುಗಳ ಮಾಳ ತಲುಪಿತು||

ಅಲ್ಲೆ ಇದ್ದ ಎತ್ತಿನ ಬಳಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ದಂಡ ಮಾನವಾಗೆ|

ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಗೋವುಗಳನು ರಾಮನಿತ್ತನು||

ಗೋವುಗಳನು ಸಾಕಲೆಂದು ಗೋವಳಿಗರ ನೇಮಿಸುತ|

ಬಡವ ವಿಪ್ರನಾಶ್ರಮಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು||

ನಿನ್ನ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಗೈದೆನೆಂದು ಮುನಿಯದಿರು|

ನನ್ನಲಿರುವ ಸಂಪದವ ನೀನು ಪಡೆದುಕೋ||

ನನ್ನ ಹರಸಿ ಬೀಳುಕೊಡು ವನಕೆ ನಾನು ಹೋಗಿ ಬರುವೆ|

ಸುಖವು ಇರಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸತಿಗೆ ಸುತರಿಗೆ ||

'Trjata Ghatha'-  The story of Trijata.

Trijata was an old Brahman, who had a young wife and children. The only wealth he possessed were spade ,sickle and axe as he was a vagabond in the forest. His wife heard about Rama distributing his wealth and advised Trijata to go and beg Rama who would  never disappoint his subjects.

The poor Trijata, who had the brightness of a Maharshi came to the palace of Rama wearing the old rags. He prayed Rama to free him from his poverty. For which Rama challenged him humorously by pointing at the lines of cattles and told him to throw his 'danda' as far as he could. Rama assured the old man that he would grant him the cows on the basis of how far his 'Danda' would reach. Hearing this ,the old Brahman tied his cloth around his waist tightly and threw the Danda with all his might and force. As a result the Danda fell on the other side of the river Sarayu. It covered the thousands of cows. Trijata was given 1000 of cows as Rama had assured him. Rama sent the cows to the hermitage of Trijata along with cattle drovers. 

Rama asked Trijata not to be angry for testing his strength or ability and asked his blessings. Rama wished him to have a good and happy life along with his wife and children.
