ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೨೩

ದಶರಥನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮದುವೆಗಳು ಮುಗಿದವು.ಮದುಮಕ್ಕಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಯತ್ತ ಪಯಣಿಸ ತೊಡಗಿದರು.ಪಯಣದ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ಒಂದಷ್ಟು ಅಪಶಕುನಗಳು ಗೋಚರಿಸಿದಾಗ ದಶರಥನು ಕಂಗಾಲಾದನು.ಅದಾದ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಭೀಕರ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ರೌದ್ರಾಕಾರದ ಪರಶುರಾಮನು ಎದುರಾದನು.ವಸಿಷ್ಠ ವಾಮದೇವರುಗಳ ಉಪಚಾರ ಪಡೆದೂ ಶಾಂತನಾಗದ ಪರಶುರಾಮನು ರಾಮನಲ್ಲಿ- ತಾಟಕಿಯ ಸಂಹಾರದಿಂದ ತೊಡಗಿ ಶಿವಧನುಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮುರಿಯುವ ತನಕವಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಾಹಸವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ.ನೀನು ನಿಜವಾದ ಸಾಹಸಿಯಾದರೆ ಶಿವಧನುಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಧನುಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಶಿಂಜನಿಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡಿ ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ದ್ವಂದ್ವ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ.ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಗೆದ್ದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಶೌರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಾನು ನಂಬುತ್ತೇನೆ-ಎಂದು ಆಹ್ವಾನವಿತ್ತನು.ದಶರಥನು ಪರಿಪರಿಯಾಗಿ ವಿನಂತಿಸಿದರೂ ಪರಶುರಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಸವಾಲಿನಿಂದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ.ರಾಮನು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸವಾಲನ್ನೊಪ್ಪಿ ಲೀಲಾಜಾಲವಾಗಿ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಧನುಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಶಿಂಜನಿ ಬಿಗಿದು ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡಿದನು.ಪರಶುರಾಮನ ಅಹಂಕಾರ ಅಡಗಿತು.ಆದರೆ ರಾಮ ಇಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೇ ಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.ರಾಮ ಹೂಡಿದ ಬಾಣ ಎಂದೂ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗದು.ನೀನು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ.ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲಾರೆ.ಇದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಗುರಿ ಕೊಡು ಎಂದು ಕೋಪೋದ್ರಿಕ್ತನಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಪರಶುರಾಮನು ನನಗೆ ಮಹೇಂದ್ರ ಪರ್ವತಕ್ಕೆ ಕ್ಷಣ ಮಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಲಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ತಪಶ್ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನುಳಿಸಿ ಉಳಿದ ನನ್ನ ತಪಶ್ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿಸಿ ಬಾಣ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸು ಎಂದನು.ರಾಮಬಾಣ ಗುರಿ ತಲುಪಿತು.ಪರಶುರಾಮ ತಪಶ್ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಂಡು ಕಳಾಹೀನನಾದನು.ಬಳಿಕ ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಅವತಾರವೆಂದೆ ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿ ಪರಶುರಾಮನು ತಪಸ್ಸಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಹೇಂದ್ರ ಪರ್ವತಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿದನು.

ಎದುರಾದ ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಂಡಾಂತರ ತಪ್ಪಿದ ತೃಪ್ತಿ- ಸಂತೋಷಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಶರಥನು ತನ್ನ ಪರಿವಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದನು.

The marriage ceremony of Dhasharatha's children was over. Everyone proceeded towards Ayodhya with the newly wedded couples. Unfortunately they experienced some bad omens on their way back to Ayodhya which made Dhasharatha lose his peace of mind. A moment later there was a terrifying storm and along with the violent storm Parashurama presented himself before them who had an outrageous appearance. Vasishta and Vamadeva treated him cordially but nothing could calm him down. In return he retorted looking at Rama that he had heard the stories of audacity and Valor of Rama from slaying Tataki to breaking the mighty Shivadhanus. Parashurama challenged Rama to prove his valor by stringing  Vaishnava Dhanus which was equivalent to Shivadhanus .Not only that he further challenged Rama to release the arrow from his mighty bow and invited for a duel (Dwanda yuddh) with him. 

Dhasharatha was frightened by the words of Parashurama and requested him to take his challenge back but Parashurama did not back out from his decision. Rama had to accept his challenge as facing him was inevitable. Rama strung the Vaishnava Dhanus with utmost ease and aimed the arrow. Witnessing this the pride and arrogance of Parashurama collapsed. But Rama did not keep quiet. He told Parashurama , the arrow that would be released by Rama would never go in vain. Rama ordered Parashurama to set the target or aim for the arrow which would be sent forth by him. Parashurama  without any alternatives , decided to sacrifice his power of penance and told Rama to aim his penancing power. But he requested Rama not to target his power of reaching Mahendra Mountains

swiftly. Finally 'Ramabaan'( the arrow of ShriRama) reached its target and Parashurama lost his power of penance and was defeated. Parashurama praised the valor of ShriRama and claimed that he was the Avatar of the lord Vishnu. By accepting his defeat, Parashurama left for Mahendra Parvatha to perform penance.
