ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ-೧೯

ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಕಲ ಮುನಿಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ಮಿಥಿಲೆಗೆ ಬಂದರು.ಅಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜೋಚಿತ ಸತ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು.ಗೌತಮರ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠಪುತ್ರ; ಜನಕರಾಜನ ಪುರೋಹಿತನಾದ ಶತಾನಂದನು ತಾಯಿ ಅಹಲ್ಯೆಯ ಶಾಪಮುಕ್ತಿ,ತಂದೆಯ ಆಗಮನದ ವಾರ್ತೆ ಕೇಳಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಸಂತೋಷ ಪಟ್ಟನು.ಶ್ರೀರಾಮ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರನ್ನು ಅಭಿವಂದಿಸಿದನು.ಬಳಿಕ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರ ಸಾಧನೆಯ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳತೊಡಗಿದನು-

ಕುಶನು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ ಮಾನಸ ಪುತ್ರ. ಭೂಪಾಲನೆಗಾಗಿ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿಂದಲೇ ನಿಯೋಜಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನು.ಅವನ ಮಗ ಕುಶನಾಭ.ಕುಶನಾಭನ ಮಗ ಗಾಧಿ.ಗಾಧಿಯ ಮಗ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು.ಕುಶನ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಕೌಶಿಕರೂ ಹೌದು.ಇವರೂ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ದಕ್ಷ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಭಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.ಒಂದು ದಿನ ವಿಜಯಯಾತ್ರೆಗಾಗಿ ಭೂಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ವಸಿಷ್ಠ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳ ಆಶ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಸೈನ್ಯ ಸಮೇತರಾಗಿ ಬಂದರು.ಬಂದಂತಹ ರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಪರಿವಾರಕ್ಕೆ ವಸಿಷ್ಠರು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೋಮಧೇನು ಶಬಲೆಯ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಸತ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು,ಭೋಜನ ಕೂಟವನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಸೈನಿಕರು ಅತಿಥಿ ಸತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಸಂತೃಪ್ತರಾದರು.

ಆಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ತೊರೆಯುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಶಬಲೆಯ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಅರಿತ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ಅದನ್ನು ತನಗೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ವಿನಂತಿಸಿದರು.ಆದರೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಹಾಗೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಆಶ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಬದುಕಿನ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿರುವ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವೆಂದು ವಸಿಷ್ಠರು ಬಹುಬಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದರೂ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ಜಗ್ಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.ವಸಿಷ್ಠರು ಬಗ್ಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.ಕೊನೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದುದನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವುದು ರಾಜನ ಹಕ್ಕು ಎಂದು ವಾದಿಸಿ ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಶಬಲೆಯನ್ನು ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸಿದರು.ವಸಿಷ್ಠರ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಂತೆ ಶಬಲೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಶಕ- ಯವನ- ಕಾಂಭೋಜ-ಮ್ಲೇಚ್ಛ- ಹಾರೀತರೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಸೈನಿಕರನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರ ಸೈನಿಕರ ಹುಟ್ಟಡಗಿಸಿತು.ಇದರಿಂದ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರ ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ವಸಿಷ್ಠರ ಮೈಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋದರು.ಕೇವಲ ವಸಿಷ್ಠರ ಹೂಂಕಾರದಿಂದ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಬೂದಿಯಾದರು.ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರೇ ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯ, ತನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರರು ತುಂಬಾ ದು:ಖಿತರಾದರು.

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಬಲದೆದುರು ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯ ಬಲ ಏನೂ ಅಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯಭಾರವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿ  ಶಿವನ ವರಪ್ರಸಾದವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ತಪಸ್ಸಿಗಾಗಿ ಹಿಮವತ್ಪರ್ವತವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದರು.

Vishwamitra accompanied by Rama - Lakshmana and group of sages reached Mithile where they received the royal hospitality. Shathananda was the eldest son of Gauthama Maharshi and he was the priest of the king Janakaraja. He was elated with happiness by the news of the redemption of his mother Ahalya and the return of his father Gauthama. After welcoming Rama ,Lakshmana and Vishwamitra respectfully, he began the story of the valor and the achievement of Vishwamitra. 

Kusha was the 'Manasa Putra'( willingly accepted as an own son)of Brahma.

He was created and assigned to look after the welfare of the people. The son of Kusha was Kushanabha who had a son named Gaadhi . The son of Gaadhi was the great Maharshi Vishwamitra who was also known as Kaushika since he was born in the clan of Kusha. Vishwamitra was an efficient king and reigned his state efficiently for many years. One fine day ,when Vishwamitra was circulating the earth for his victory voyage ,he visited the hermitage of Vasishta Maharshi along with his army. Vasishta Maharshi received the King and his huge army with honour and offered hospitality. He hosted a grand feast with the assistance of his sacred cow Shabala (daughter of Kaamadhenu). Vishwamitra and his army were fully satisfied by the hospitality offered .

The incredible power of the sacred cow Shabala mesmerized Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra requested Vasishta Maharshi to give him Shabala. But Vasishta Maharshi tried to explain him the vitality of Shabala in his life and in the lives of the people who lived there in the hermitage. But Vishwamitra was least bothered about them and he was not ready to be convinced.  He was so stubborn in his decision .When Vishwamitra realized that Vasishta had made a firm decision and he was not going to change his mind ,he arrogantly argued with Vasishta, that being the king he had all the rights to get whatever he wanted in his state . He forcibly tried to drag Shabala,  but as per the command of Vasishta, Shabala created soldiers named Shaka - Yavana - Kaambhoja - Mlechha - Haarithara and many others to protect herself and annihilated the army of Vishwamitra. The hundred sons of Vishwamitra were outraged by this action and they attacked Vasishta without the knowledge of his power and within a minute they were all burnt into ashes by the fury of Vasishta. The army and the sons of Vishwamitra were completely destroyed right in front of his eyes which became reason for his unbearable pain.

Vishwamitra realized and accepted the fact that the force of Brahma was powerful than the force of Kshatriya . Later Vishwamitra coronated his son the king and left for the Himalayas to perform further penance to be blessed by the blessings of the lord Shiva.
