ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಾಯಣ ಹಕ್ಕಿನೋಟ -೧೫೭

 ಸೀತೆಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಇನ್ನೂ ಉಳಿದಿತ್ತು!!ಹೌದು.

ಅದನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಪತಿಯ ಅಪಮಾನಕರ,ಚುಚ್ಚುಮಾತಿನ ಬಾಣಗಳೇಟಿಗೆ  ವೀರಪತಿಯ ವೀರಸತಿಯಾಗಿ-

.ನಿನ್ನಂತಹವನು ಹೇಳಬಾರದ;ಅಸಂಸ್ಕೃತರು ಅಸಂಸ್ಕೃತರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವುದೇಕೆ?

.ನೀನಂದುಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ನಾನಿಲ್ಲ.ನನ್ನ ಚಾರಿತ್ರ್ಯದ ಮೇಲಾಣೆ.ನಾನು ಶುದ್ಧಳು.

.ಅಸಹಾಯಕಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾವಣನ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶವಾದದ್ದು ಸತ್ಯ.ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ತಪ್ಪೇನಿದೆ?

.ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ನನ್ನದೇ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಅದೂ ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಲೀನವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

.ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವ ನೀನು, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಬಲ್ಲ ನೀನೇ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂದೇಹಿಸಿದರೆ?

ಇನ್ನು ನಾನು ಬದುಕಿದ್ದೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಿಲ್ಲ.

.ಈ ಸಂಶಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನುಮನ ಕಳಿಸಿದೆಯೇಕೆ?

ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿದೆಯೇಕೆ?

ಈ ವಾನರವೀರರು ಬಲಿಯಾದರೇಕೆ?

.ಸರಿ.ನನ್ನ ದಾರಿ ನನಗೆ!-

ಎಂಬೀ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೇಳಿದಳು.ಅಗ್ನಿಪ್ರವೇಶವೇ ಇದಕ್ಕಿರುವ ದಿವ್ಯೌಷಧವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣನಿಗೆ ಚಿತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧ ಪಡಿಸಲು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.

ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಿಸಿದ ಅಣ್ಣನನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ಕೋಪದಿಂದ ನೋಡಿದ.ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಕೋಪಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಮಿಗಿಲಾದ  ರಾಮನ ರುದ್ರ ರೂಪವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಚಿತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧ ಪಡಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿತು.

ಸೀತೆ  ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಬಂದು ಧಗಧಗನೆ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಯಜ್ಞೇಶ್ವರನ  ಬಳಿಗೆ  ಹೋದಳು.

ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೂ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಕೈಮುಗಿದು(ರಾಮಾಯಣದ ಕ್ಲೈಮಾಕ್ಸ್ ಹಂತ!!)-

.ನನ್ನ ಮನ ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ರಾಘವನನ್ನು ಕದಲಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದಾದರೆ

.ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನೆಣಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಾನು  ದೂಷಿತಳಾಗಿರದೇ ಸಚ್ಚಾರಿತ್ರ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವಳಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ

. ಮನ-ಮಾತು-ಕಾರ್ಯ ಹೀಗೆ  ತ್ರಿಕರಣಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಿಸಿ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದಾದರೆ

.ಸೂರ್ಯಾದಿ ಗ್ರಹಗಳು , ದೇವತೆಗಳು, ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳು ನಾನು ಪುನೀತೆಯೆಂದು ಒಪ್ಪಿದಲ್ಲಿ..

ಅಗ್ನಿ ದೇವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಲಿ -ಎಂದು ಅಗ್ನಿದೇವನಿಗೆ ಬಲವಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಲ ಮನದಿಂದ ಅಗ್ನಿಪ್ರವೇಶ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.

ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು,ಮೇಲಿದ್ದವರು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆಯೇ ಧಗಧಗಿಸುವ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಳು! ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಹಾಹಾಕಾರ! ಆರ್ತನಾದ!!

ಬೆಂಕಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೀತೆ,

ಕಣ್ಣೀರಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮ!

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಮಹೇಶ್ವರರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಕಂಬನಿಯಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಾಮನನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸಿ ಅವನ ಮೂಲವನ್ನು (ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣು, ಸೀತೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ)ನೆನಪಿಸಿ ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗ್ರಹಿಸಲು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಆಗ ಅಗ್ನಿಯು ಸೀತಾದೇವಿಯನ್ನೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಚಿತೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದನು.

ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಮಪಾವನೆ, ಮಹಾಪತಿವ್ರತೆಯೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ರಾಮನಿಗೊಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.ರಾಮ ಹರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದನು.

ಬಳಿಕ ರಾಮ -ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಸೀತೆ ಪರಮಪಾವನೆಯೆಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ  ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಲೆಂದೇ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.ಸೀತೆ ಅಗ್ನಿಯಂತೆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧಳು.ಅಗ್ನಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಸುಡುವುದುಂಟೇ? ನನ್ನ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮದೂ ಆಗಲಿ ಎಂದೇ ಈ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವರ್ತಿಸಿದೆ- ಎಂದು ನೆರೆದವರಿಗಂದನು.

ಸೀತೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೊಳಪಟ್ಟಳು.  ರಾಮನೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸೀತೆ ಪುನೀತೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಮುಗಿಯಿತು.

 

ಆದರೆ ರಾಮ!?

ಪಾsssಪ!

ಇಂದೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಶಯದ,

ಅಪಮಾನದ 

ಅಗ್ನಿಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಳಪಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ! 

ಅವನ ಸತ್ತ್ವಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಕೊನೆ?

The tears were still there in the eyes of Seetha !!

Yes.

By shedding tears ,hearing the insulting and hurtful words of Rama which hit her like an arrow, she speaks -

• These words should not be said by a person like you . Why are you saying the words which the uncultured people say to the uncultured people?

• I am not so as you think. It's a swear on my chastity. I am pure .

• It is true that I came in the contact of Ravana's touch since I was in a helpless situation. What is wrong in that ?

• During this time my mind was under my control and it was only mine which was immersed in you.

• How can you  ,the one who respects others and the one who has known me completely, suspect me?

• There is no use even if I live now.

• Why did you send Hanuman then keeping all these doubts in the mind ? Why did you battle? Why did these monkey warriors die then ?

• Fine . My way is mine ! - 

Seetha said these words to Rama by shedding tears. She came to the conclusion that the ordeal by fire is the only finest medicine for this and she told Lakshmana to arrange pyre .

Lakshmana looked at his elder brother who humiliated Seetha, scornfully. But the terrifying appearance of Rama which surpassed  the anger of Lakshmana, made him arrange the pyre .

Seetha after circumambulating ShreeRama went to 'Yajneshwara ' the god of fire who was burning .

By folding her hands as a gesture of respect to the Brahmanas and to the Gods ( The climax of the Ramayana !!) and by saying -

• If my soul has not trembled even for a moment for Raghava,

• If I am the virtuous woman and if I am not blamed as ShreeRama thinks,

• If I have not lived by encroaching Rama by the three senses ,soul - words - deeds ,

• If the heavenly bodies of sun ,the Gods, the directions, accept that I am pure and sacred...

Then let the god of fire ' Agni ' protect me -

She entered the fire with a firm mind and the soul.

As the people who were there , those who were above and everyone watching she fell into the burning fire ! Medley of voices everywhere !

The cry of distress !!

Seetha in fire,

Rama in tears !

The gods, in the presence of all the gods including Brahma and Maheshwara, consoled Rama who was shedding tears. They reminded him his origin ( Mahaavishnu,  Seetha Laxmi ) and told him to accept Seetha. During the time 'Agni' came out from the pyre carrying Seetha.

He handed over Seetha to Rama by saying that Seetha is supremely holy ,

and the great chaste woman. Rama accepted Seetha with great happiness. Later Rama told addressing the gathering that he did not prevent Seetha from ordeal by fire so that the inhabitants of the three worlds get the faith that Seetha was supremely sacred. Further he said that he behaved rudely so that the faith and the belief that he had on her should be the faith of the people. He said that Seetha was as pure as fire . And he asks ' does fire burn fire '?

Seetha underwent the ordeal by fire once. Along with Rama, everyone who gathered there stated that Seetha was sacred.

It ended there.

But Rama ! ?

The poor Rama !

Even today he is being subject to the ordeal by fire !

of our doubts, 

and blame !

When is the end for the test of his vigour ?
